The pretty Derbyshire village of Great Longstone is situated in a wonderful position in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Great Longstone is nestled in an enviable position, flanked by Longstone Edge, with Bakewell just four miles away and Chatsworth House close by. The village offers two pubs, 18th century stone cottages and a market cross that is situated on the village green, plus the Monsal Trail runs through the village and provides eight and a half miles of traffic-free walking and cycling.
We were thrilled on arrival by the standard of this cottage, clean, comfortable, well fitted out and located. Cleanliness is a big issue for us and the Nook was perfect in that respect. It was also comfortable because good quality furniture had been used by the owners. The loudest sound here was the birdsong, we were happy in this respect particularly while sitting in the delightful courtyard garden, a haven of relaxation. On our next Peak District visit we will be staying at the Nook again, if we can get a booking that is for it is justifiably busy.
3 of us stayed here and it is absolutely superb. It is very light and bright with a lovely open plan living area. There are 2 outside seating areas which during the summer would be lovely. The owners left us bread, butter, cake, milk and toiletries which were very welcome. The area is lovely and only a 3 mile walk into Bakewell. The 2 pubs in the village are good.
We really enjoyed staying at The Nook - excellent quality, cosy, comfortable, spacious and spotlessly clean. We loved the sheltered outside seating area and the delightful little courtyard garden. The spacious bathroom and fabulous shower were also great. The cottage was in a peaceful location, yet close to two pubs and the village shop. There were walks around this wonderful area from the door, and the welcome scones and other thoughtful provisions were much appreciated. The booking process was simple, and Sylvia was very helpful with directions and any any other info we needed. I'm sure we will return - thank you.
We have just stayed at The Nook and it is a wonderful property. Lovely open plan downstairs, 2 bedrooms upstairs with a large bathroom. It was very clean and nice decor. The heating works very well , so it is very cosy. The owners live next door (which we always see as a positive) and are very friendly. Good wifi. The Nook is in a quiet road, with 2 great pubs 2 minute walk away. The Monsal Trail is also a short walk. A great place to stay and we will definitely return.
The Nook is one of the best cottages we've stayed in and we've stayed in a lot! Our hosts were most welcoming and thoughtful. The cottage is very well located. We can recommend The Nook without hesitation and definitely plan to return ourselves.
