Reviews

We’ve just returned from a weeks stay here and had a lovely time. The cottage is perfect and well looked after. The location was brilliant for exploring the local area, and the garden was lovely. The cottage was also very clean and everything we needed to keep on top of this was provided. We visited with a baby and a travel cot, high chair and stair gate was provided which was really helpful. We would highly recommend staying here.

“Loved this cosy well equipped cottage and the views from the top of the garden are amazing.” Many different varieties of birds visit the garden and you can feed the local hedgehog although elusive. Handy for visiting a family member in the village of Levens and local pub and village shop a short walk. We saw a huge buzzard flying over one afternoon and many birds visit the beautiful sloping garden. A little cottage along the road also sold home made jam which was delicious accompanying our breakfasts. Quiet location for visiting the area and lakes. The Lakeland Motor museum at Ulverston a good day out and can recommend the Ship Inn on Bowness in Windermere for a view of the lake and good value food and service. The Freedom pass will take you from Haverthwaite by train to the Lakeland stop for a cruise up Lake Windermere or you can hop off at other stops up the lake. Ulverston has a good supermarket - Booths and the Lakeland Glass Blowing factory, very interesting. Also a good quality mountain warehouse for any extra walking & clothing accessories. Coniston is beautiful with the usual tea shops too quieter than Windermere Ambleside and Keswick, so many other places I didn't do on this visit. Will be back hopefully to this cottage again

We stayed in Cinderbarrow 27th April-3rd May. We had a great week exploring the Lake District, weather was dry for the week. The cottage was great with gas central heating, wifi internet which was probably only rated at 2gb download speed. The cottage was a very high spec with light oak furnature throughout. The bed was wonderfully comfy. The area has marvelous views and is very quiet. There is a hedgehog house in the garden and they eat a full bowl of food a day. Must be greedy critters :) The garden is on a slope but at the top is a bench which has a view to die for.

This cottage is a real delight, both myself and my partner said we'd happily move in permanently without changing a thing. Without doubt we'll be looking to book here again on out next visit to the Lake District.

Cinderbarrow Cottage is well presented and offers great value for money with a high quality comfortable interior throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay and would have no hesitation in recommending.

We stayed here as a family of 4 just before Easter 2017. The cottage was decorated/furnished to a high specification. Kitchen looked virtually brand new. Tall fridge/freezer with ice maker, new oven gas hob, dishwasher, washer/dryer. There was some nice biscuits as a welcome treat. Tea, coffee, a pint of milk, dishwasher tablets, washing powder were also there for us to use which was a pleasant and unexpected surprise. WiFi worked well. TV had a fairly good choice of channels. Really sturdy oak furniture and master bed. Lovely bedding. Nice views. Outside was a small patio area which had nice furniture for four people. West facing I think, so great for evening picnic and making the most of that light. The garden is narrow and on an incline, but very pleasant. Pheasants and rabbits were often seen walking around. Bench at the top of the garden was nice to relax on. Beautiful magnolia tree. The grass was well tended to. The cottage is in the middle of nowhere, but also only about 6 miles from the M6. Our Sat Nav found it okay. It wasn't a bad base for exploring part of the Lake District. We went to Windermere on many occasions, Ullswater, and Grange-over-Sands without too much car-time.

A really well equipt cottage. Beautifully decorated. A great base for families. I travelled with a toddler and there is so much to do nearby. The garden is brilliant and the views are amazing. A great find for a perfect week away

We stayed for a week with our little boy and baby. The cottage was newly refurbished to a high standard and the owners had thought of every detail to make our stay comfortable and easy. Our little boy particularly loved the large back garden. Sure we will stay again when we're next near the Lake District.

The cottage is beautifully presented, welcoming, comfortable and tasteful. Many thoughtful touches were evident. The location is peaceful and relaxing. The outdoor space and views are an added bonus, especially when we were fortunate enough to have good weather.
