The picturesque village of Upwey lies just four miles north of Weymouth, nestling beneath the Dorset Ridgeway, and takes its name from the shallow chalk stream, the River Wey, which bubbles up here from an underground spring. Upwey is well-known for its Wishing Well, where George III once sought the benefits of the natural spring water. It is now a delightful tea room, serving lunches and traditional cream teas. There are a number of footpaths leading directly from the village to miles of unspoilt countryside, and close by is the market town of Dorchester, Thomas Hardy’s ’Casterbridge’. An easy drive or bus ride takes you to the popular seaside resort of Weymouth offering visitors glorious golden sandy beaches, excellent watersports facilities and a bustling harbour. An attractive village location and an ideal place to escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

We had a great stay at Bramshurst, one of the North Manor Meadows cottages in Upwey near Weymouth. It's more of a large, open-plan villa and was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. Lots of handsoap and disinfecting spray etc available and clean ie re Covid. The double plus en suite is on the mezzanine level and the 2nd bedroom is on the ground floor next to the bathroom. Shower very powerful, hot water throughout our stay no problem. All mod cons. TV, wifi, dishwasher, lovely outdoor space to sit in. Ours adjoined on to 2 other villas and we heard no noise at all through the walls. Lovely and quiet at night. It was about 15 minutes drive to Weymouth with at least 3 supermarkets on the way. Weymouth has a lovely sandy beach and is fairly commercial but that meant good facilities with plenty of cafes and free loos, plus shops to get a paper, sunhat, etc. Very pleased indeed with our stay and would highly recommend.
We had a lovely family week together. The location is safe and peaceful away from that hassle and bustle of town but only a short drive to the beach. The accommodation was in excellent condition, clean up to date and modern.
We had a fantastic weeks stay in this new, modern and fully equipped holiday home. It had everything we needed for a short break and we felt very at home. The location is beautiful and very peaceful with lots of lovely walks around the river Wey. Would definitely recommend it and hopefully we'll be back again ourselves.
