The pleasant village of Llangynog lies in breathtaking countryside amidst the beautiful Berwyn Mountains and surrounding wooded hills and valleys. The area has a history of lead, silver and slate mining dating back to the 17th Century but today it is a renowned location for climbing, birdwatching, walking and cycling, with famous mountain bike trails near Dolgellau, and a mountain bike centre at Llandegla.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
The cottage is stunning. Exceptionally comfy beds and all kitchen kit you could need. However, some basic flaws. 3 adults booked, only 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels provided. There are 3 bathrooms and 1 downstairs loo. So not enough towels to go round. Hand wash/soap only in downstairs loo. No hand wash or soap in other bathrooms. Remember to pack your own! As a well travelled person I’ve never considered having to pack such a basic commodity as soap for any toilet/bathroom. TV had a very bad reception and was unwatchable. The weather was great so no TV not an issue for us but in the dark winter months it’d be a deal breaker for us. Basic hygiene by way of soap in all bathrooms should be expected especially as limited shops close by. The local pub is awful. The Railway is much better. Garage back door doesn’t have a key so not secure storing expensive bikes etc.
Lovely old cottage but bath needs hand -rail ,shower attachment got in way as already 3 showers and a warning about low ceilings would be helpful as banging head was painful . Neighbour Phil was very helpful with local knowledge and offer to cut grass , but all locals were very friendly and seemed pleased to help. Very spacious inside although right on edge of Snowdonia so visitors need to be aware Mount Snowdon at Llanberis is over 50 miles each way . Road to Bala is amazing with sheer drop on one side .
This cottage was so comfortable and well equipped and everything supplied was of very good quality. It’s a deceptively spacious cottage. The beds were comfortable and the fact that each bedroom had an en-suite bathroom was a real bonus as we were five adults altogether. We found some lovely walks straight from the cottage and others within a short car journey .
Spent a long weekend here with friends. First thing I have to mention is the lovely big kitchen. Well-equipped and lots of room to work. Large table for us all to sit around chatting and having a laugh. 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin each en-suite which is a big plus. Cosy reading room, very well stocked with a varied selection of reading matter and a comfy lounge. Both with wood burning stoves. Plenty of wood in stock. Music to our ears (see what I did there!) It also has central heating which keeps the whole cottage warm. Large garden to the rear but parking a bit tight to the front. Well positioned to enjoy walks straight from the door. 2 pubs 2 minutes away, one of which is being refurbished. No food in that one at the moment but open for drinks at certain times. We partook of a meal at the New Inn. Can thoroughly recommend their food. All in all a great property and location to spend time.
We spent a week at the cottage and what a beautiful house in stunning scenery. The cottage interior is finished to perfection with en suites in all three bedrooms, well lit and centrally heated, the cottage was comfortable. The kitchen provided the right amount of utensils and utilities to make our self catering stay enjoyable. Downside is the lack of mobile phone signal coverage, but I’d turn the thing off and just enjoy the break, in this most accommodating cottage. Local shops are a 20 minute drive away, there’s the New Inn which serves food approximately two minutes walk away or my favourite The Plough in the next village Well worth the money and we’ll definitely be returning soon.
