Rose cottage is very picturesque and gives very good (partial) views of the surrounding countryside. The house was well equipped with everything you would expect. The fit and finish was to a high standard and we all slept comfortably for our duration. Neighbours were helpful and welcoming. Embleton itself was a very pretty little village and is very well located for exploring around the Eden Valley. We would highly recommend a visit to Lowther Castle. It has a fantastic adventure play for the little ones. A couple of minor points to address would be... with no bath, our children found the showers too slippery and so a shower mat would be worth bringing along. The door to the shower/utility room downstairs does not lock and can blow open revealing your loofah to whomever is in the kitchen. The garden is well kept and a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine. The children made the most of it too. The village pubs were a let down but the Featherstone Arms in neighbouring kirkaswald lived up to its high reputation. All in all we loved our week in Rose cottage and in Embleton and would not hesitate to go back in the future.
