We stayed here as two families and found the accommodation suited us perfectly. The division of upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms worked really well-with two separate staircases leading to the sections. Downstairs it’s spacious and just as it looks on the pictures. The garden was a lovely size, next to the quiet roadside but needed to watch the little ones near the nettles. Insect repellent is a must for the evenings as due to the location it was popular with midges. The house was perfect located for most attractions were a short drive away and the views everyday towards the mountains were incredible. The host was friendly and helpful and we wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.
Is Y Deri is a great base from which to explore Harlech and the surrounding area. The beach at Harlech is beautiful and we spend a great afternoon exploring the castle. The house itself is right on the road, which is a bit off-putting at first. However, the traffic noise and disruption is minimal when inside. The garden is small but really nice and there's a hillside walk from a gate at the back. The house is spacious and good for large groups. The lounge is especially nice, with three huge and very comfortable sofas. We were disappointed by a few things, such as the cleanliness of the house. Most surfaces are dusty and the rooms smelt fusty. The kitchen is relatively well equipped but the fridge is very small for a house of this size. The mattresses on the beds seemed old and were all pretty saggy and uncomfortable. It's a shame because it makes such a diffference when staying somewhere if the beds are half decent. It was great to have a travel cot, high chair and booster seat available at the house. It saved us a lot of space in the car not having to bring those.
