From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
Although the village is (very) quiet, and the cottage has all the bits and bobs you'd expect, the mattress on the bed has seen better days, and the settee is beyond uncomfortable. It was like sleeping on a bouncy marshmallow and sitting on a park bench, so sleep and rest were in short supply. The settee had planks under the seat to stop the cushions going through! It was Wimbledon finals week and as the weather wasn't great we looked forward to watching the tennis. Really disappointing. It may have been more comfortable, and certainly cheaper, if we had chosen to camp instead. To be fair, if the mattress and the settee were better, the whole experience would have been good. But they ruined the week.
