This is a clever conversion of the old village shop, a garage and a barn into one beautifully designed spacious detached cottage, right in the centre of the pretty village of Parwich. When first entering the cottage, the exposed brickwork gives a real sense of history, yet the contemporary furnishings bring it right up to date. All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated with a light and airy feel, and have lovely views over this attractive village. The main bathroom is the perfect place for a luxurious soak in its beautiful bath, and the second sitting room tucked on the first floor, with its comfy sofas and woodburning stove, makes a wonderful place to sit back and relax with your friends, or perhaps escape them for a while! The beautifully-designed open plan kitchen is fully equipped, with an island breakfast bar, a large dining table and a spacious and comfortable seating area, so the whole space is a lovely social spot to get together. French doors lead from here out to the sheltered courtyard with patio furniture, ideal for a barbecue, and from here you can access the games room with a full size pool table and table football. Bikes can also be stored safely here. Should one of your group have limited mobility, it’s good to know there’s a ground floor twin room, and a ground floor wet room which has wide access. The downstairs bedroom room also features French doors opening out to the courtyard. Parwich is an award-winning village, with its beautiful stone buildings and neat gardens set around an old pond and spacious village green, plus a quaint local pub. There’s lots of attractions nearby: if it’s walking or cycling you enjoy, then there are many trails, including the High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail which follow the routes of former railway lines. The Roystone Grange Archaeology Trail is north of the village and is perfect for keen history seekers. Chatsworth House and Alton Towers are a short drive away and within easy reach are the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, making this property an ideal getaway all year round.

Surrounded by lush green countryside, Parwich is a charming village which dates back to Saxon times. It has a picturesque old church, village green, a country pub and a village hall. The area is a delight for cyclists and walkers, with the nearby Manifold Trail, a tarmac path that follows the old Leek to Manifold light railway, providing the perfect opportunity to explore the countryside. The route has been open since the 1930s, when the railway closed, and was probably the first disused railway to be utilised in this way. Nearby are the lovely villages of Alstonefield, Ilam and Brassington, and activities such as golf, horse riding and sailing are all within a seven mile radius. Chatsworth House and Carsington Waters are also close by, making Parwich a great base for a family holiday.

Reviews

We've just spent a weekend at the Old Shop in Parwich. There were two families of 5 each. The accommodation was superb. Clean, well equipped and with everything we could have needed. Our teenage children enjoyed the games room. The beds were comfy and the layout was quirky which gave the property an added feeling of uniqueness. Booking was a breeze and the owner was most helpful and informative. Only problem we had was that we didnt have the time to spend longer at this wonderful property!

Beautifully presented and well equipped warm and comfortable cottage. We were travelling from NZ to meet up with friends and family from Scotland, England and Eire so this was a central meeting point about 90 minutes drive from Manchester Airport. Very pretty village with good local walks and easy access to the Peak District villages, towns and tourist attractions. The cottage was ideal for a large group as it had two large lounge spaces and a games room allowing people to socialise but also to have the option of separate spaces. The courtyard was pretty and would be great for barbecues in summer. There is a parking space big enough for two cars outside the cottage but plenty of space nearby for additional parking if needed.

The house is beautiful and very well equipped we had teenagers with us and they particularly enjoyed the games room, having the 2 sitting rooms meant that everyone had their own space. We had a wonderful holiday here and would recommend it to anyone.
