Reviews

Wow well what can we say except simply OUTSTANDING! The lodge, the owners, the surroundings were simply AMAZING. A beautiful 5 star lodge in quiet and peaceful surroundings but close enough to many lovely areas to visit. The local village is only 10 minutes walk away, 5 in a car and has a couple of pubs, a post office and local shop and lovely little deli and butchers. The lodge is dog friendly and the hot tub is beautiful to relax in after a trip to the local seaside. The owners are so accommodating and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. We loved the lodge that much that we have booked for next year for 2 weeks, you cannot fault a single thing about it. The owners have thought of everything from board games provided in the lodge, to a Wii games console, books, DVD player and DVDS. The waterfall en-suite shower is so refreshing after a dip in the hot tub and the open plan lounge is lovely to sit in by the fire with the patio doors opening onto the garden and hot tub area. The hot tub is cleaned daily, refilled and temperature checked. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and it is a bonus having 2 bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a beautiful waterfall type shower. Sasha the owners daughter also creates beautiful artwork and light up bottles which would make a lovely little gift for someone back home. Dog biscuits were provided upon arrival, along with a welcome tea, coffee and milk pack and some homemade biscuits and apple juice from the owners orchard, again another lovely little extra touch. 5 stars for everything, a wonderful little set up and you feel as if you are away from everything in the middle of nowhere because it is so peaceful but in reality it isn’t too far to travel to nearby places at all, outstanding and I think the fact we have booked again for 2 weeks next year should speak volumes to anyone reading this, thank you for an excellent stay and look forward to seeing you next year ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Couldn’t wish for cleaner, more comfortable accommodation. Have previously stayed in Sunset Lodge, but this time time took family and 2 dogs. We all loved it. The dogs were happy, the (adult) kids loved it, and we were happy because they all were Alison and John think of everything you could possibly need on a ‘Dog Friendly’ stay away from home. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The welcome they offer is above and beyond. The teapot pours like a dream. The Hot Tub is awesome. The facilities luxurious. Comfy beds and exceptionally cosy all round. They also have incredibly talented family who illustrate the local wildlife and surroundings meaning you can also take a little piece (or two) of East Yorkshire home with you. The Lodges (3 in total, currently. Soon to be 4) provide the perfect base to visit the whole of the East Coast and Yorkshire Wolds, relatively undiscovered and under-explored part of the Country (happy to keep it that way too ). Hornsea being a longtime favourite of ours since the children were small. It has everything a Seaside town should have on a modest and understated scale. There are a number of high quality eateries and takeaways locally to ensure if you wish to completely relax, all you have to do is make the call and turn up. Even just wait for a delivery. What more could you possibly need, or want? We are looking forward to visiting again as soon as we can. Thank you Alison and family for a lovely stay.

Stayed here in October 2018 for a week with my two dogs - first time away on my own and couldn't have been more welcoming. John and Ali were on their holidays but their daughter looked after me and the hounds superbly - nothing was too much trouble. Loved it so much going back again this year - just wish i had put this review on after my last visit. Sorry both - will be a bit quicker next time! LOL Lodge was clean and warm with everything on hand - quiet and generally just a great place to relax and unwind. Enclosed garden for the dogs was just perfect. See you all later in the year !!!

Fantastic holiday in a brilliant lodge. Everything done to a fantastic standard and so relaxing. The hot tub was incredible and checked every day by the owners (without us seeing them or being disturbed), and nothing was too much trouble. Will definitely be returning!

Well what can i say about a perfect place to stay. First let me tell you about Ali and John, you could not ask for better hosts. They are welcoming friendly and NOTHING is too much trouble, Really lovely people and Mabel is very lovable too. The lodge is very clean and in a very calm and peaceful location where you can just sit and watch wildlife or relax in the hot tub which is also well maintained. The lodge is in an ideal location for day tripping as Beverly, Hornsea, Bridlington and Hull are not that far away. This is our 3rd visit to the cottage and we are going again in August with our two Dogs who also love the large fenced in garden. Thanks again to Ali and John for a lovely Holiday.

Spent two weeks there February 17th to March 3rd 2018. The lodge is great, the owners, Alison and John, couldn't have been more helpful. We were there in the atrocious weather, the 'Beast from the East', and in spite of that we had a very enjoyable holiday. Even in the snow, the hot tub was great. It's undercover so the weather didn't interfere. Alison and John kept checking in to see we were ok, which was, as I pointed out to Alison, excellent customer service. Five stars for the lodge, five stars for the owners. Highly recommended.

Went here on holiday through Sykes Holidays, could not fault anything. The lodge was clean and had lovely furniture and fittings. The Hot Tub was great and they checked it twice a day, didn't hardly see them. They left a card balloon and bottle of Fizz for my 50th Birthday which was very thoughtful. Had fantastic time even accommodated us going 2 days early as the lodge was not already booked. The weather was fantastic and the dog loved the fully enclosed garden. Didn't want to leave can't wait to return. Would fully recommend. Only thing I though could have been helpful was a shelf actually in the shower for all my bit and bots but that was just my taste

Lovely lodge with all you could need. Locate in a quiet private location. 15 minutes drive from the coast. Be sure to call in at the butchers and bakery in the village. Hot tub lovely and the grounds are surrounded by high fences great for dogs. Owners very friendly. The only thing that stoped us giving the lodge 5 stars was there was no TV in the bedroom.
