The Sidings is a Grade II listed cottage steeped in history and was reputedly once a bakery and a public house, set in the thriving and historic market town of Pickering at the foot of the glorious North Yorkshire Moors National Park. Nowadays it is a lovely cosy cottage with original beams set over three floors with three bedrooms, including a twin room on the second floor. There is also a kitchen with a dining area where you can enjoy a meal together before relaxing in the sitting room. The attractive patio is a real suntrap and is a perfect retreat for relaxing and alfresco dining at the picnic table. Stroll across the road and embark on the Pullman Dining Train for an unforgettable lunch, afternoon tea or evening meal in luxurious style. The cottage has off road parking just outside the front door and with so many options for exploring this fantastic area you can head off for a great adventure and the car can stay put! There is a good bus service linking all the towns, villages, moors and coast. Hop on and off the bus and sample some of the excellent walks on offer. The Sidings offers tantalising views towards the North Yorkshire Moors Railway station and the railway is one of the world's greatest heritage railway experiences, seeing the 24 miles of amazing scenery is an absolute must. For Harry Potter fans Hogsmeade Station is really Goathland in disguise! The drive to Whitby is across the atmospheric and undulating moors whilst Scarborough is a pleasant and scenic route passing through pretty villages. The North Yorkshire Moors is not all about the emotive landscape; comprising of over 1400 miles of pine forests, shimmering coastline, amazing wildlife, castles, abbeys and mile after mile of some great off-road cycling this National Park is breathtakingly beautiful. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.
