The traditional Welsh village of Tanygrisiau, meaning "below the steps'' is situated within reach of Blaenau Ffestiniog. The village stands amongst dramatic scenery, and Tanygrisiau is a good starting point for many walks, especially if your intention is to climb Moelwyn itself. Tanygrisiau railway station is on the famous Ffestiniog Railway, a narrow gauge railway built to carry slate from the mines down to the sea at Porthmadog; today it is a renowned tourist attraction providing stunning views on its trip to the coast.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
It was very good indeed; excellently presented and in a great location. The cottage is comfortable and cosy. As a base for visiting Snowdonia and walking it is just about perfect. In fact, we enjoyed it so much I thought about leaving a terrible review so that we can be sure of booking again!
