Cottage home for the past week. The owners are lovely and had fitted 2 new baby gates to keep our adventurous 15 mth old safe. With a lovely bottle of wine and some chocolates, they certainly go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Our 8yr old enjoyed his own room and there is plenty of space in the main bedroom for a cot, without tripping over everything. There were even a couple of dog bowls, which was a great save as we forgot ours! Our little dog enjoyed her stay too and felt very welcome. Kirkby Stephen is a lovely little town within an hours drive of all the main tourist places. If having a take out, we cannot recommend the fish and chip shop enough! Their fish is amazing. With the Stainmore Railway and Platform 3 soft play just a 13 min walk away, there's enough to do on a rainy day with little ones.
We have stayed in this lovely cottage twice and were so comfortable both times. It is right in the village which suits us but close to stunning Cumbrian countryside. We are warm, have a well equipped kitchen and it is all spotlessly clean. We hope to come back next year!
I Booked a week in this cottage and unfortunately booked the wrong week. I only realized this the night before I was due to leave. In a panic I called the owners and explained my situation and to my surprise they were happy to transfer the funds to one of their friends who also owned a cottage in the area and our holiday was saved. They were extremely helpful on the phone and everything was sorted in less than an hour even though it was my mistake and they did not need to help. I am so great-full for everything they did and would highly recommend using them for a holiday if you're planning on visiting the area. Also a stunning part of the world with much to see and enjoy. Easily 5 stars
Lovely Cottage . Good Location Shop a Few Doors Down. Nice Welcome Package. Ideal Location to Explore the Region. A Good Selection of Pubs & Restaurants in the Village. Corner Cottage is Warm and Cosy and is an Ideal Base.
A lovely little cottage in the small town of kirkby stephen which has a number of restaurants., antique shop's and small businesses. The cottage is beautifully appointed with a 6 foot wide bed in the master bedroom.Parking no problem and the kitchen and lounge were well equipped. A loveley touch was some local items wine and chocolates left for us on arrival. The house is about 20 miles from the lakes but this is an alternative to being permanently in the bustle of the lakes. The Yorkshire dales are beautiful and there are walks to suit everyone. I would recommend putting this cottage on your list when you are thinking of the lakes
