This holiday cottage is amazing. From the whisky and shortbread welcome tray to the amazing comfy bed and pillows to full bath and shower. Also nice to have local shower gel and shampoo in the bathroom as well. Whole place was clean and comfortable. Lovely place to come home too after exploring the falls of foyers. Kitchen has everything you need and a dishwasher. My partner enjoyed the coffee machine. We loved sitting on the sofa after walking all day and relaxing on the lovely sofa. Contact with the owners was great. They contacted us to provide all the information needed. The photos you see is 100% the same as the cottage. Grest to have a washing machine to use as well. When we come back to lochness we will be staying again. Lovely cottage. Thanks Louise and Rob. Bristol x
It was with sad hearts that we left this beautiful cottage. It really felt like home to us, and that is down to the owners as it is clear they have put a lot of care into Wendy's place, and have lovingly restored it to keep its cute cottage feel but with many creature comforts. The cottage as everything you need and I mean everything. The kitchen was well stocked with crockery and pans and trays this is rare in many cottages but something I found useful as I like to cook some nights and also it was useful that tesco deliver to the cottage which I found excellent Also the kitchen as a full size fridge and freezer and I thought a nice touch was the tassimo coffee machine with a few pods to start you off. The living room is lovely and comfortable with a amazing log fire ( logs provided) and a lovely view out the window to the the garden and the village green and most mornings a friendly pheasants visited the green . The bedroom is also comfortable with all you need from hairdryer to luggage holder and coat hangers. The baththroom as been done well with underfloor heating, heated mirror and heated towel rail a shower and bath. The garden was lovely with seating and a barbecue. And safety wise there is a smoke alarm/ fire alarm and a fire blanket. And you have all of this and it is situated in the most beautiful village with a friendly feel, a local shop and 2 tea rooms that serve lovely homemade food and a pub not far away with views over the Loch ness. There are many walks from the door and the amazing Loch ness just minutes away with its own shore area where you can sit and take in the wonderful views. We loved it here this cottage as everything and we can't wait to return again, thank you to the owners Ewan and Corina for sharing Wendy's place with us we have had an amazing holiday, and we can't wait to return.
Sorry to say we had a bad experience at this lovely looking cottage, overall the standard of furniture fittings etc is good and the location is lovely, BUT we had many problems. I had raised the matter with Sykes hoping to avoid a bad review on here but they just thanked me for my feedback as feedback is important to them (customers are not so important it would seem as not even an apology offered). Serious problems: The shower head was mouldy so could not be used, the cupboard under the kitchen sink stunk of damp, the window frames were dirty / mouldy, the cups were very sticky and looked unpleasant on the inside, the back door did not unlock and I couldn't see a smoke alarm anywhere in the property. In the days of Covid-19 and extra cleaning of holiday accommodation the cleanliness was a great worry especially as I am in the shielding group. Other lesser problems were: very little storage space for clothing in the bedroom (four very small drawers and a very small open wardrobe with one shelf), the kitchen was missing one or two items (no draining spoon or pizza cutter & no pint glasses) and only four of every item of cutlery crockery etc whilst four items might be considered adequate for two people six items would have made for far less washing up. A bulb needed replacing in the bedroom as did the batteries in the dvd remote and there was a problem with the sound on many of the freesat channels.
We stayed at Wendy's Place in October last year, but it's taken me until now to write this review (always a good sign in itself when places live long in the memory). The cottage was perfect from start to finish, top to bottom, front to back. Everything has been done with care and attention, and the quality of the decoration, furniture and equipment puts other places to shame. The kitchen is spacious, the living area very comfortable, cosy and warm (can't beat a wood-burning stove), the bathroom just what you need after a day's walking, and the bedroom was snug and warm. The whole place was spotless and the cleaner obviously does an excellent job. Very much a cottage but with modern standards and quality throughout. For example - the TV set-up - it all worked (this sounds trivial but the amount of cottages where there is some sort of fault or clunky issue with the set-up is, from experience, unbelievable); The Wifi signal was strong and reliable throughout the cottage. The welcome pack was a nice touch, and we were sad to have to return south after what seemed a very short time (always a good sign when your left wanting more!). The location on the edge of the village was just what we wanted - tranquil and peaceful, yet very much within the village. Handy parking space right by the cottage - easy to bring things in either through the front or back. The Falls of Foyers are just minutes away (very dramatic especially after heavy rain) and for fans of hydro-electricity, the nearby power-station was worth seeing (there's no visitor centre, but the buildings on the shores of Loch Ness are inspiring in themselves). Morag's crafty bothy is well worth a visit (from where the cups in the cottage hail) for a mid-walk brew and a cake. Going for a run on the first night, it was a surprise and a treat to come across a deer just yards from the back door - you really are in the heart of the Highlands, where everything is just bigger, grander and generally more impressive. Can't fault it - great price, and I'd really rather not review it to keep it a secret ;) What are you waiting for.
We had a fantastic week staying in Wendy's Place. The accommodation was superb and of a very high standard- you will not be disappointed- the owners have thought of everything from logs for the wood burner to dish washer tablets to a welcome dram of whiskey and shortbread waiting on the table !! Perfect location too.
