Reviews

Cosy Cottage was delightful and welcomed our dog with a dog towel by the door, dog biscuits. Has sensible flooring for pets. Great location for walking the Cleveland Way and hearty meals available at the local Blacksmiths Arms. Strong WiFi a bonus.

On arrival at Cosy Cottage first impressions were a clean, quaint and welcoming place to spend a short break. Our impressions didn't change. It was nice to find coffee, tea and fresh milk had been provided and even a supply of dog treats for our pet. Towels and bedding were spotless, the cottage was warm with heat already switched on awaiting our arrival. The log fire had been prepared ready for lighting with a fair supply of logs. A scan through the visitors book revealed that a family from Scotland had stayed at the cottage on no fewer than 16 occasions. This is testimony in itself to the attraction of the accommodation. We accept that people have different tastes and expectations but ours were met and we would not put people off from staying here. We spent time touring the local area, visiting Whitby, Scarborough, Pickering, numerous small villages and walking through the countryside around Cod Beck reservoir and along the Cleveland Way. The locals were extremely friendly and dogs were welcomed most everywhere. A short break to the area gets a high recommendation from us and the cosy comforts of Cosy Cottage can add to that enjoyment.

Got to the the property key was available on arrival Which we were pleased about. It smelt vary musty we opened the windows. My daughter went upstairs to see what room was best for her to have. Was one double bedroom plus one singe room. As she was kneeling on the bed to open the small window the bed slats broke. On further inspection some of them were broken at the sides so we pushed back into the best place we could to hold mattress in place. My daughters leg was well brushed the next day . The single mattress was vary uncomfortable as springs are pushing through, the double bed creaked whenever you moved found the bed unsafe at times. The bathroom window is not frosted for privacy and shower cord so short we had to stand on a chair to operate it. Bathroom bedroom door handles don’t work, but to close the bathroom door it had a bolted lock you had to push door to keep it shut . Stair carpet was dirty but that could be from the black slate tiles. The sofa smelt vary badly vary uncomfortable to sit on. The kitchen was well equipped but freezer door is broken and bottom cupboards smelt vary damp. I would not recommend this cottage to friends or stay again as it’s not like in the pictures on the site. This cottage needs revamping downstairs . Stair carpet cleaned, better sofa to sit on No kitchen cooker fan as we could not open windows because of dust from People working outside kitchen window The village is lovely people are vary nice and would recommend the pubs to eat have a drink staff are lovely
