A really lovely conversion of a stone semi-detached outbuilding in the heart of Bradwell in the Hope Valley situated next to the owners home. The barn was once used as a coach house and an interesting exterior feature is the restored brass fuel pump. As the cottage is in the centre of the village, just across from the village green and park, its equally suitable for a group of friends or a small family. On the first floor the twin and king size bedrooms are comfortably and tastefully furnished. The bathroom is equipped with a luxurious dual overhead and hand set shower unit. The ground floor features a well-appointed kitchen diner equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge with small freezer compartment, microwave and gas hob with electric fan oven. The cosy sitting room with its traditional decor and convenience of a living-flame gas stove, is the perfect place to relax. The property has gas central heating in all rooms. A small area outside the front door with a bistro set is a great place to take in the evening air and people watch to the backing soundtrack of the babbling brook. If the kids still have gas in their tanks, theres a play area within sight just across the way. From the cottage itself there are impressive views of Bradwell Edge and a host of interesting walks around the local area. Bradwell village offers the convenience of three pubs which all serve appetising food, as well as an award-winning restaurant. For your self-catering needs there is a local supermarket, Post Office, bakery, fish and chip shop and the famous Bradwell ice-cream shop! Slightly further afield you can potter around the historic market town of Bakewell, or the spa town of Buxton, renowned for its spring water, opera house and arts, jazz and opera festivals. It is easy to spend a whole day at Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, with many historic properties nearby. Whatever time of year you jump on board, this cottage is just the ticket.

We stayed here for a much needed family catch up. The cottage was super cute, clean and cosy. The host had thought of everything, including treats for our dog they were really helpful. The village is stunning with great pubs and little shops right on the doorstep. Couldn't recommend this place more!
It’s always a great experience when the property you picked is even better in real life than the photos! The rooms are bigger than the pictures show, and the layout is great as the bedrooms are separated by a landing with the bathroom in the centre, so for two couples sharing it afforded lots of space and privacy. There is nothing that Jane hasn’t thought of - from scones and milk on arrival to being able to find niche items like a pizza cutter and a plaster (not related to each other!!) the cottage is perfectly and thoughtfully equipped. We couldn’t recommend Brookside Barn highly enough.
As a family of 4 plus dog this cottage was absolutely perfect. The cottage itself is immaculate and very well equipped. Rooms are clean, comfortable and a good size. Excellent shower and kitchen well equipped for self catering. Jane (the owner) was not intrusive but available if there were any issues (which there wasn't) and the homemade scones on arrival were a lovely touch. The table and chairs outside the front look out over the brook and village play park which allowed us to enjoy a glass of wine in the April sun keeping a watchful eye on the kids and planning the next days walk. The village has a plethora of pubs and a very useful Co-op and a fabulous sandwich shop. This is the perfect base from which to explore the Peak District we will be renting this cottage again. Thank you Jane.
The cottage went way above our expectations for a holiday rental based on other properties stayed in. The standard of finish, attention to detail, cleanliness and comfort were second to none and we couldn't fault a thing. This property sets the bench mark for other to try and achieve. The owner lives next door and is on hand should you need anything and is very helpful, she also bakes nice cakes too !! I am almost reluctant to submit in case too many people get to hear about this little gem.
Brookside Barn is beautiful cosy and really well equipped. Pictures on the internet do not do it justice ! . Very nice village and a good few places to eat. The Anchor inn just a few miles away worth a visit. This accommodation is well placed for visiting all the caves and places of local interest. Would recommend anyone to stay there. Owner Jane was very pleasant and helpful. Would definitely book again.
This is a beautiful property, in a delightful village, close to many of the attractions which the Peak District offers. The scones and refreshments on arrival were most welcome. Every room was well decorated/equipped, with plenty of information and helpful literature about the area. Being from NI, we have to travel a considerable distance to get to Bradwell, but well worth the effort, in a cottage such as this. Highly recommended
Lovely cottage furnished beautifully and in a great location. Really nice finishing touches such as milk, tea, coffee and some lovely scones and biscuits! Comfortable beds; a good shower; warm and cosy cottage throughout our stay. Nice and welcoming owners next door. Everything you need to use as far as kitchen utensils. Would certainly return in the very near future!
Cosy, beautifully equipped, spotlessly clean cottage in the heart of Bradwell village. Excellent base for exploring the Peak District. Fantastic welcome from the lovely owners who made us feel really at home. We enjoyed a relaxing break at the end of February with Eric our Welsh terrier and will definitely be making a return visit.
