This fantastic region has something for all the family any time of the year.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.
My family and I arrived and were welcomed by a lovely welcome basket. The bungalow was lovely and clean and the bed in main bedroom really comfortable. So much so I have asked the owners where they purchased it as I'd love similar at home. I had a question about the smart TV which the owner answered quickly and helpful. Would definitely return in the future. Thank you, Rachel
On Arrival we were greeted by a pleasant enough looking cottage from the drive , well kept frontage, but from their it all started to go a little downhill , well actually a lot down hill . On entering the cottage we noticed the carpets in the lounge & hallway were filthy , sofas look worn & very very grubby , lots of dust on shelves , window sills , and the few oddments dotted around the place , we felt the need to clean the whole room ourselves , before we felt we could then use the front room facilities . The bathroom was small , but usable , but any one on the larger side of 15 stone + , forget it , its gonna be a squeeze . The bedrooms were OK, quite clean compared to the front room , and small hallway , conservatory looks over a large field & not the rolling hills which are advertised , annoying little rat next door yapping away through the day , up until about 10pm ish . Right kitchen was disgusting , we cleaned it ourselves , once clean was usable for the odd slice of toast or cuppa . The pans were covered in grease , no real baking trays , we bought a frying pan & a few oven trays from Tesco , so we could cook any meats on . Cooker hob was covered in grease so we also gave that a good clean down , we re done all the cutlery in the dishwasher , it looked clean to start with, but given the other issues we found , we felt the need to ensure a good clean was warranted . They have a cleaner , but God knows what she does other than empty the bins on turn around . We never used the garden at all , so no comment really either way on that . The Beach is no where near the cottage , and where it is looks rough as s@#t . So we gave that a miss and used the amenities more towards the centre of snowdonia , a beautiful , beautiful part of Wales Nothing really shone about the cottage other than the initial view of the front of the bungalow . We won't be booking this again just because of the location & lack of cleanliness . Can only give this a one ☆ as you can't give 0 ☆s
We spent a week here about 2 months ago and were generally happy with the accommodation, which is in a quiet housing estate. The small bungalow is only 5 minutes from bus stops on the coast road and there is a frequent double decker service west to Colwyn Bay and Llandudno and east to Rhyl and Prestatyn, which we used a number of times. (We ate twice at The Bistro in Rhyl and this was excellent; they give large portions!) The kitchen is small but adequate and well equipped; the dining table takes up a significant proportion of the floor space. There was a digital radio but we never succeeded in getting any sound out of it. We were able to listen to radio on the large TV so that was fine. The WiFi worked well most of the time and only occasionally dropped the connection. The double bedroom at the back was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The small conservatory is accessed via the single bedroom and this was a pleasant place to read and have a cup of tea. The property was warm and comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The toilet flush was poor and often required a few attempts. I booked the property through Sykes Cottages and upon request I submitted a review, but they declined to publish it. I have twice since contacted them to point out that some aspects of the property description on their Website are inaccurate and misleading. So far, however, no amendments have been made. The items I would contest are: 1. “Surrounded by stunning mountain views, this idyllic and quaint property….” – there are other bungalows opposite and at each side so it definitely isn’t “surrounded” and in any event there are no “stunning mountain views”; there are some low hills visible from the master bedroom and the conservatory when visibility is good! “Idyllic and quaint” aren’t adjectives which I would apply – the bungalow is pleasant enough but not “quaint”. 2. “….with the master boasting breathtaking mountain views….” – Same comment as above. 3. “….there is one large modern shower room….” – This is the main issue; the bathroom is tiny, as is the wash basin, which is squeezed between the wall and the shower cubicle. It doesn’t make for easy washing. 4. “The stunning beach of Pensarn is just a five minute walk from the property.” – I am a fast walker but it took me 10 minutes, via a footbridge over the railway, to reach the beach, which consists of large pebbles on a slope (the tide was in each time so I don’t know how far out the shingle extends). Walking on it is therefore not easy or comfortable on the feet. Again I imagine that “stunning” wouldn’t be most people’s description! Whilst some of these points may seem pedantic, I would have thought it was in Sykes’ interest to avoid hyperbole and to present a realistic description in order to avoid potential customer complaints about misrepresentation. Note that for anyone using a wheelchair this property would not be suitable due to the small bathroom.
I booked this bungalow to take my elderly mum on holiday for a week. The bungalow is beautiful and had everything we needed and more. It is situated in a very quiet friendly and pleasant neighborhood. It is in an ideal position to visit North Wales. The bungalow has a welcoming atmosphere and we felt at home within minutes of arriving. Mum was very comfortable here and we will definitely visit again. Thank you to everyone Tom, Christine and Irene (Darlington and Middlesbrough )
Used the property for 4 weeks, but it wasn't a summer break. Had the coldest few days in years and the central heating broke down, but all was resolved very quickly. Everything in the property you would need and there was a welcome basket, which was very handy for a quick drink when we arrived and the biscuits were a stop gap before we could go out for something to eat. Good size and would be suitable for at least 3 people. Quiet area. Would not hesitate to visit again.
