Reviews

Had an absolutely wonderful time at 19 Quay Street,Minehead...A really lovely sea front cottage, located in the quieter, almost village like part of Minehead at the foot of North Hill...I say Village like, yet this terrific property is just a few mins walk along the front,to the main town in one direction, and the same again the other way to the beautiful little harbour and its attractions. The Cottage itself is run by a really friendly and helpful owner, called Prim..who could not have done more to make us welcome and to make sure that everything was ok,during the stay. The cottage is really lovely inside, with a rustic feel to it,which is totally the kind of thing we love..You should see our house !! A really spacious kitchen and dining area, plus very large Family room, with Smart TV /CD player etc adds to the downstairs.Upstairs 3 very comfortable bedrooms, although of course,we only needed one, with just the 2 of us and dog in residence. Also a very large garden, self contained and secure,so ideal to sit out in,if good weather, and es[pecially for a dog.For me,one of the most impoetrtant things is Car Parking..We only have a little car,but even with a bigger one, there`s no issues parking either straight outside the cottage on road parking,or just a little further down..using the free car parking pass that you get from Prim on arrival....There are 2 pubs that are both dog friendly just 5 mins away in either direction walking...and plenty more pubs...shops..eating places just a stone throw away in the town. The cottage is ideally situated for getting around, either by foot or car...With plenty of places to visit nearby..Dunster and Watchett being just 2,that we went to.There`s a lovely coastal walk along the front and past Butlins that takes you to Dunster, following the signs..Dunster being a very historic little town,Village with a castle. The Cottage is also just a short walk away from the UK`s longest Preserved Railway..The West Somerset Railway..Which ewas sadly closed due to Covid 19,during our visit.Hopefully it will re open at some point, prioviding a day out in its own right. All in all a great week....One word of warning,if you drive out to Porlock, and beyond..Beware Porlock Hill !!!!!!!!!!!! Pictures of it,on google !!! Its a challenge up and down,to say the least, but there is a toll rd,you can take through some great coastal scenery, avoiding the hill....Looking back, glad i did take the hill both ways, for the sheer experience of it.All in all,19 Qyuay Street is a must booking,if you are going to Minehead..You know it makes sense..Get booked in,and have a very relaxing week,in one of the nicest locations there is...Thanks to Prim the owner for a great week..All the best..Adrian and Katrina

We stayed the first week of October and had a fantastic time. This is a wonderful cottage to stay in. The location is perfect and the views are breathtaking. We come to minehead regularly and this will now be our regular stay. Could not recommend this place highly enough.

Been many times to Minehead over the years, your cozy cottage is the best we have stayed in,and over looking the sea what could be better, always feel sad when we leave to go home

Our 2nd stay here and once again everything was just perfect. The cottage is everything you need from a holiday home. So close to shops, restaurants and pubs but quiet enough to relax and forget about the outside world. You can watch the sun rise from the bedroom windows and sit in the garden and hear the waves crashing on the shore. So lovely to be able to take our dog and the owner, Prim, is so helpful. You can tell she has put a lot of Love into the cottage. Hope to be back again in the future.

Stayed over Christmas with our family and dog. Cottage was beautifully decorated for Christmas. It was warm (Lovely wood burner), cosy, clean, spacious and well equipped. It is ideally situated for the beach, great walks, and amenities. The host was lovely and available if needed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have re-booked for later this year.

We are so much looking forward to returning to this charming cottage, later this year. We had the good fortune to stay there, for the first time, last year, as a party of 5 adults & 2 dogs. It speaks for itself, that it was a unanimous decision, to immediately rebook the property, for our next holiday in Minehead. The location is so delightful, the accommodation so comfortable & the owner, Prim, so helpful & obliging. It certainly ticked all our boxes!

Perfect for the family. We have visited twice and want to do so again. Situated in the old town of Minehead, the cottage is cosy and very well equipped and has the benefit of an enclosed garden area. The beach is literally a few yards away and there are sea views from all bedrooms. Pubs, cafes and harbour are just down the road, and major shops are just minutes away but this is the quieter side of town. Many attractions close by and beautiful countryside all around. Whatever time of year this is a great place to holiday.... The owner and her family could not have been more helpful and thoughtful in ensuring that we had a fantastic stay.

Stayed here over Christmas 2018 (cottage was decorated lovely by owner). Had an amazing time. Family came to visit. Location was perfect, beach just across the road with great views from bedrooms. Shops 5 minutes walk away. Character cottage was cosy with log fire and spotlessly clean. Great amenities, did some amazing walks with our dog. Had great fun with our granddaughter searching for crabs in the many rock pools. Owner was extremely kind and helpful. We shall definitely be going back in 2019.

Just back from a fab few days stay here with friends, the cottage is full of character with great views looking out over the beach. There was three spacious bedrooms and plenty of room for us all. The cottage was perfect, fully equipped, clean, very comfortable and cosy. I highly recommend staying here and will be booking again to come back.

Cannot recommend this cottage enough. A perfect cottage in a perfect setting. The cottage was very clean and very well equipped. The bedroom made us feel like film stars and is better than any 5 star hotel. The owner is lovely and very welcoming. I will never forget sitting on the window seat in the bedroom watching the sunrise. Have already booked for next year and we are literally counting down the days Lot's of lovely places to eat within walking distance. Super, fantastic, wonderful, stunning, breath taking place to stay.

This was the first time we stayed in this particular cottage at Minehead. We went as a family of 5 and took our dog with us. Everything was first class. The inside was deceptively large and homely. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Sofas and beds were extremely comfortable to lounge around on. Heating and hot water were perfect and there was a plentiful supply of bath towels.Location was ideal. We have stayed in other cottages in Minehead at similar times of the year but always felt they weren't quite right for us, but 19 Quay Street most definitely was. We have already said that as a family we hope to go again next autumn. If we were nit picking, we all agreed it would have been nice to have a hairdryer as I forgot ours, but we managed without. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage for all the states above reasons. Thanks Prim.

We booked the cottage last minute for a few days to enjoy a family break by the sea wanting to getaway with our energetic kids and dog. The break was everything we could of wished for, location was excellent just across from the beach and still just minutes from the town where we could highly recommend Stones for their Wood fired Pizza's. The bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds, the lounge has ample seating and the kitchen although not state of the art was well equipped, clean and tidy. Communication was great from Prim, the owner for directions, access arrangements and the kids certainly enjoyed the Welcome tub of chocolates! Highly Recommend

This was the dirtiest holiday rental I have ever stayed in. It was filthy. There were rodent droppings, clusters of dead insects, a basin of dirty stagnant water under the kitchen sink that stank, old food from previous guests in the fridge, filthy ripped tablecloth, dirty cooker, dirty utensils, broken furniture among other things. I could go on and on, it was disgusting. We booked it for a family of 6 through Sykes Cottages. We sent a total of 19 complaints to them and Sykes made us feel like we were the problem for complaining. It was an extremely disappointing service, once they had our payment they could not have cared less. We were eventually offered a paltry compensation which we refused as it would not even cover the price of one meal out. We were forced to eat out every day as the kitchen was so manky. All in all it ruined our family trip to Minehead and made it very expensive. I would never book accommodation through Sykes Cottages again.

Stayed here recently & it was filthy. Location is good but the cleanliness was shocking. I would not recommend a visit. I visit Minehead every year & the state of this place was the worst I have been in.

The cottage is situated at the quieter end of the esplanade away from (but still within walking distance) of the main town, amusements, cafes etc., and there is a small coffee shop and two excellent pubs literally yards away. The cottage is spacious, well equipped, very clean and comfortable. We certainly didn't find any cleanliness issues at all, in fact, because of the dog and the weather we were worried about leaving is as pristine as we found it it, Excellent communication with the the owner Prim (because of the snow it was touch and go whether we would be able to get there) and we have already recommended the cottage to some friends. The location is excellent for dog owners - there is a large hallway where you can wrestle a muddy German Shepherd in order to dry it before allowing it into the rest of the property! All in all, good value for money

This was the worst cottage holiday we've ever had. Booked through Sykes and complained but never heard from them again. The cottage was dirty, a dog had been present the previous week and the smell gave that away! Bathroom needed cleaning, toilets never been touched from previous occupiers. Bathroom mirror was dirty. Dust and cobwebs throughout the property. We didn't stay for the week booked. Fridge and Freezer had other people's leftovers in it! We left it cleaner than when we arrived!
