Tenbury Wells is a charming, ancient market town situated on the banks of the River Teme in Herefordshire. Dating back to the Iron Age and said to have been called 'my little town in the orchard' by Queen Victoria, Tenbury Wells boasts a unique 18th century bridge built by Thomas Telford, the magnificent Pump Rooms, which housed baths where local mineral water was available, and many other listed buildings dating back to the 17th century.
Visitors to the Cotswolds have long treasured memories of charming towns and villages built from the famous honey-coloured stone, it now boasts a thriving community of contemporary artists working from studios and shops throughout the area.
The house itself is really nice - well appointed, good sized and comfortable bedrooms, plenty of space in the kitchen/diner/sitting room and lounge downstairs. What we found really exceptional about the property though was the location - it's on its own in the middle of a large farm with countryside views all around. As a bonus there's a really good hottub where you can relax and take in the surroundings. A perfect place to enjoy a break with a large group.
Stayed here on a fri - sun break for my daughters 40th birthday. There were 6 adults and 4 children in the party. We wished we could have stayed longer! The cottage is very big and comfortably furnished. A HUGE well equipped kitchen, diner, sitting area with doors opening to both front and back gardens. There is a cosy sitting room with plenty of seating and a beautiful brick fireplace with an electric log burner effect fire which was very cosy. The heating and hot water were perfect. There is a downstairs cloakroom and a further 2 bathrooms and an en suite upstairs. The bedrooms are all large and the beds very comfortable. Outside there is a hot tub, table and chairs and bbq. There are stunning views all around. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to return. Please do note that you will have to drive through the actual farmyard to get to the cottage - we thought we'd got it wrong and were driving on private property! Excellent place - well worth a visit.
We stayed at Wood Cottage for two nights as a family of 9 (3 generations aged 16months - 50's). The dealings I had with the owners prior to and during our stay were excellent, always able to answer questions and make suggestions. The house itself is beautiful. Immaculately clean, very good selection of items in the kitchen and generally all you'd need for your stay. The beds were comfortable and the rooms spacious. Showers were powerful and warm. The house was so cosy and warm. We loved that in both of the downstairs rooms there was plenty of seating to accommodate everyone. The garden was lovely and fully enclosed which was great for the dog and toddler. Our weekend was on the whole rainy, but this didn't matter as the views from the house are stunning and you can sit in one of the downstairs rooms playing games / relaxing with family and just enjoy the views. When the rain did stop we went into Tenbury Wells and also walked down into the farm where the house is located. My little boy LOVED this. Puddles, sheep, cows, ducks, a dog, tractors and a friendly farmer, what more could a 16 month old little boy want!! We had a Chinese takeaway one night from Tenbury Wells, we found a leaflet in the information pile in the house. There are plenty of amenities in Tenbury Wells which is only 10 minute drive away. A fabulous weekend with family in a beautiful house. Next time we'd stay another night. Thank you!
We stayed here for three nights for my husband's birthday. We had a lovely time! The photos online don't do it justice as each room is beautiful and the views are amazing. We went for walks in the countryside and enjoyed eating, drinking and playing games around the huge dinning table. The owner was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be coming back again.
