Location Details

Cresswell is a Northumberland village on the North Sea coast, popular with bird watchers with Cresswell Pond being nearby and the Druridge Bay Country Park less than 3 miles away. The village has an ice cream shop but this does close out of season. The nearby town of Ashington, once known as the largest mining village in the world and offers a good range of shops and has a market day on Tuesday. It also boasts two country parks, Wansbeck Riverside Country Park and the Queen Elizabeth II Country Park at Woodhornn.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Reviews

Situated in the quiet village Cresswell with a beautiful beach, mostly sand and dunes, a beautiful rocky part on one side, you find this gem of holiday appartment in en enclosed garden, so perfect for families with a dog. The house itself is cosy and offers all you need from a dishwasher to a washing machine. Russ and Sue, the owners, made sure we had a fabulous time, they are absolutely friendly, always giving tips of what to do and where to go. We found a yummy cake made by Sue when we arrived and other goodies, there was powder for the dishwasher, soap, coffee, sugar, ... We honestly have never had such a service before, plus we love a quiet surrounding. The only thing you could hear in the night were the waves. You could even see the sea from some windows and the door. If you would like to,go somewhere for nice food, we can recommend The Drift Cafe which is in Cresswell as well, we went there five times during our stay, yummy and again dog-friendly. It was a shame we had left ours at home. Not too far is Amble and if you have a young one like us, crabbing at the harbour is a great thing to do. Thank you again for treating us as guests not customers, we felt absolutely welcome.

Welcoming and hospitality by Sue was second to none, absolute peace and tranquillity with sea views and only a short walk to wonderful sandy beaches. The cabin is spacious and well equipped with everything you need and more, private and enclosed garden to enjoy the sunshine without having to worry about pet dog or young kids wondering off. Short drive to major amenities, highly recommend .

Spent an amazing week here with my wife, daughter (3yr old) and son (5 months). The cabin itself is finished amazingly well and to a very high standard and has more than enough sleeping, living and dining space to accommodate the 'max' allowed. It's great that it has its own large private garden area for the kids to play in and can't wander off (my daughter may even have stolen a few raspberries from the bush!!) We were able to walk to the beach on a whim and had plenty of days out to the local towns etc. The owners and their daughter are such warm, friendly people who made us very welcome and the small touches such as milk in the fridge and cake on arrival (as well as the tea and coffee!) made us feel very much at home! We felt that the stay was great value for money and wouldn't hesitate to return!!
