Okehampton 7 miles. This upside down cottage is one of two cottages, next door to the owners’ farmhouse on a non-working farm in a rural setting close to Dartmoor National Park and seven miles from Okehampton. Set over three floors, The Orchard is situated in a delightful peaceful setting surrounded by fields and is ideal for friends and families wanting to escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. On the ground floor you will find a comfortable and stylish king-size double bedroom, a bathroom and a cloakroom with a basin and WC. A set of wooden stairs lead you to a quirky and characterful open plan living area, with vaulted beamed ceiling and exposed white stone wall, and includes a well-equipped kitchen with a cosy dining area, as well as a comfortable sitting area with warming woodburning stove. Finally, on the second floor is a lovely mezzanine double bedroom. At the front of the cottage is a lovely patio area with rattan furniture, just perfect for sitting and relaxing whilst watching the owners’ horses grazing away in the meadows. The local village of Bridestowe is less than a ten minute drive and benefits from a small shop, and there are also numerous friendly pubs in this area. The towns of Okehampton and Tavistock are nearby where you will find quaint little shops, pubs, tea rooms and a daily market, in fact all you need for a wonderful day out. Further afield, are the renowned beaches of Widemouth Bay and Bude, ideal for surfing, as well as having other watersports on offer. This lovely cottage is a rural delight and an ideal base for those who enjoy walking, cycling and horse riding in beautiful Dartmoor. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 932543, together they sleep 8.

Okehampton is a busy market town on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park and near the highest and most dramatic areas of the moor, where Yes Tor rises to a height above 2000 feet. To the north of Okehampton are some beautiful rolling Devon hills where small farming villages nestle amidst woods and fields with plenty of gently flowing rivers.

Reviews

Wow, what an absolute gem of a place, had a truly wonderful relaxing time. The hosts did everything to make us feel welcome, little touches like the cream tea, biscuits, eggs, milk etc, make a real difference and always available if needed. I would highly recommend this property and will definitely be returning
