Myself, my partner, our daughter and our two dogs stayed at this cottage last week and we had a great time. The cottage was a lovely place to stay, it was clean and so well equipped. We packed lots of things that we need not have packed, such as an iron, hair straighteners and games, as Amanda and Graeme have thought of and provided everything! I would recommend booking direct with Amanda and Graeme through their website as the direct price was cheaper than we had found online on a holiday website. Amanda and Graeme also prepared a lovely hamper for us which we really appreciated, including bread, milk, cheese and biscuits, wine, chocolates and lots of other goodies. The cottage is in a nice quiet area and is close to so many lovely places. We visited Bassenthwaite Lake, Lake District Wildlife Park, Silloth, Derwentwater, Keswick, Whinlatter Forest Park, Gretna Green, Carlisle, the aquarium in Maryport and we walked up Binsey to see the sunset. There were many places to visit a short drive away, so many that we didn't make it through all of the places that we had planned on visiting, such as Cockermouth and Hadrian's Wall. Our daughter loved saying hello to the cows at the end of the garden and she also enjoyed seeing a little bunny rabbit hopping about the garden. There's also a great play park for children at the end of the road. We found the only downside to this great cottage to be that we couldn't let our dogs loose in the garden, as our dogs are small (a westie and a mini poodle mix) and so could have fit underneath the main gate onto the road. The cottage would be perfect for us if the guest garden were to be gated off on the fourth side however this wouldn't be a problem for guests with larger dogs or with dogs that can be trusted not to try to escape, like ours! Thank you for a great holiday. We would recommend a stay at Leesrigg Cottage.

We have never stayed in a place so immaculately clean before. Everything was perfect. It was the little extra touches that made our stay. The bread, milk and chocolates left for us on arrival, the pumpkins around the fire and on the windowsill (we were there for Halloween weekend). Nothing was too much for them, especially when we asked for a fire guard for the log burner as we were there with a 3 year old and 1 year old. They didn’t have one initially but they had one with us within the hour! It was a great location for the beach and the lakes. And even though the baby was sick in the car on the way causing us to have to do a U-turn and go back home to clean up, my partner slipped in some mud at the nearby play park and caked himself and the baby from top to toe in mud, we payed £15 for parking at whinlatter forrest (Someone left their registration details in the pay machine and I ended up paying for their parking as well as my own at £7 a go! Grrrrr) I was sick and spent a full day in bed, and we left a night early leaving behind some clothing left in a drawer…. We DEFINITELY intend to come back!! What a lovely, comfy, cosy place with even nicer hosts! Thank you for making our stay very welcoming… definitely a home away from home! (Oh and don’t be fooled by what booking.com tells you to bring.. I brought everything from washing up liquid, kitchen foil, bin bags, oven gloves, tea towels etc… but don’t waste your packing space it’s all there for you.. everything you’d ever need) Many more thank you’s and we’re already planning our return visit :)

Having visited cumbria for the last 16 years to visit family this cottage is by far our favourite place to stay. Having now stayed here for the last 4 years we can highly recommend it. Being exceptionally clean and well maintained it also has really comfy beds and furnishings. The gardens are beautiful and you can go and chat to the cows if they are out. It is in a great location, just half hour from keswick and Carlisle. The owners Graeme and Amanda are lovely and will do anything to assist. Ideal for our dog as lots of space to run. All in all a great place to stay.

We had a great holiday at 1 Leesrigg Cottages. The house is immaculate with everything you could wish for. It is nicely presented and was very comfortable. We were a party of 3 generations and each of us was happy with our stay. The summer house, outdoor seating and garden were great for us as the weather was perfect and we were able to sit out, play badminton, and enjoy the quiet. We visited Cockermouth, Keswick, Silloth which were all within easy driving distance. Also visited Whitehaven which is a bit further afield but easily doable. We weren’t in the area for a walking holiday however had we been The Lakes are also quite accessible. If we are in the area again we would definitely look to stay at 1 Leesrigg Cattages.

Leesrigg cottage is a beautiful little gem of a place and really felt like a home from home. It was immaculate and the owners had thought of everything. I loved the little summer house too! The cottage is in an ideal location for accessing local beaches and Keswick.

The fact that this is our third stay at Leesrigg Cottage tells you all you need to know about our opinion of the property and the location. The cottage itself is fully equipped inside and out and a real home from home. It's always spotlessly clean, there's a cosy log fire, and we couldn't think of anything else we would need in a cottage for a week away. Amanda & Graeme are always welcoming and helpful should you need any guidance on the local area and amenities. There's plenty of restaurants and eateries for dining out or farm shops and local produce suppliers if you want to stay in and chill. Location wise you couldn't be better placed whether you want to walk the high or low fells (all the Northern, Western, North Western & Central fells are easily access), explore the Solway Coast AONB, or visit the different towns of Carlisle, Cockermouth or Keswick, or you can just enjoy the tranquility of the garden with the birds flitting about and the red squirrels (should you be lucky enough to see them!) We simply couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The owners are welcoming and helpful, and not overpowering, being off centre to the lakes It is ideal for a more relaxed less overcrowded break rather than the hustle and bustle of Windermere and Bowness. But the whole of the lake district and Carlisle are within easy reach. We didn't expect it to be as homely as it was. We had a whole 12 months of weather over a couple of days during the week and the log fire was brilliant to just sit and read, a great way to chill out, Everything was so clean and all you could possibly need was available for a great stay. 4 of us stopped, and we arrived in 2 cars, plenty of off-road parking at the cottage. There is also a large garden to sit and soak up the sun, with a drink of course! (There is also an awesome Indian restaurant in Cockermouth, not far away, that is worthy of a mention) Whitehaven and Saint Bees beach are not far and well worth spending some time there. Book it, You won't be disappointed. Highly recommended.

Leesrigg Cottage we never expected a cottage as welcoming and homely. We totally loved it even our golden retriever loved and chilled him out, so clean and everything you needed for a great stay also the cottage was way above our expectations. The owners were so welcoming ever at our late arrival due to work commitments. Would recommend to friends and family. A great place as a base to travel into the lake district or just to tour from. We will definitely be returning again. Thank you the owners for a great stay and your help much appreciated.

We stayed for a week in November with our dog and had a amazing stay at Leesrigg Cottage. The owners are very friendly and offered good advice on the local area. The location was prefect just outside the national park to be able to explore the northern lakes and only 20 minutes drive to the Solway Coast. The cottage is very clean, well equipped and cosy. We will definitely be returning.

We have been staying in the lake district for many years visiting family and this is by far the nicest cottage we have stayed in. It is ideally situated and in a lovely setting. Lots of wildlife in the gardens (even red squirrels). It is so comfortable and really is a home from home. We have just booked our 3rd stay and are looking forward to it already.

Rated by Karen H reviewed on 25th September 2021

We had a lovely stay here. Perfect for my Aunt to sleep downstairs and use the downstairs cloakroom. We had the room and bathroom upstairs. The bed has a comfortable mattress. The cottage is spotlessly clean with modern decor, which we like when we choose a cottage. We also look for a quiet location so this suited us perfectly. We felt valued as guests and would not hesitate to recommend the cottage.

Rated by nmnop reviewed on 8th August 2021

The cottage was lovely, comfortable and had great views. The accommodation was very clean, well presented and excellently equipped with everything you would require. Great location for visits to the breezy beach walks at Allonby, Maryport was close by and we enjoyed several visits to the Aquarium, we also managed a couple of visits to Walby Farm near Carlisle. Graeme & Amanda were fantastic hosts and our son enjoyed feeding the chickens and meeting the dog.

We spent 4 weeks here due to getting trapped in UK for the second lockdown. It is a beautiful and very well equipped cottage in a very friendly hamlet . All the rooms have been well designed and equipped to very high standard and it is cosy and warm throughout. Graham and Amanda are very welcoming hosts and helped us out several times, not least with a flat car battery and sending on parcels that were delivered late. They also provided the most amazing Welcome hamper including Prosecco! There are a couple of local walks from the cottage and we passed some pubs that we would have liked to have tried but they weren't open unfortunately! The cottage is in easy reach of 2 good shopping towns in Carlisle and Workington and Silloth West Beach was our favourite place to walk our dog, it also has a fresh fish shop and a few cafes for a cuppa etc after your walk. The North lakes and Keswick are also near.

Rated by timlaudonnie reviewed on 17th December 2020

Our trip was sadly trimmed back to two nights due to the national lockdown situation. Despite this, the stay and hospitality were excellent in all respects, with forensic attention to detail, including safety and cleanliness. Very relaxing, particularly when the wood burner is in full swing. Some first class dog walking routes locally, including. Silloth beach We would thoroughly recommend to other visitors and hope to return ASAP.

What an amazing place to stay. Despite the miserable weather and the restrictions of COVID19, we enjoyed an amazing time in the Lake District. The accommodation was very clean, well presented and excellently equipped with everything you would require. The cottage also has a log burner, which is amazing to relax in front of and enjoy a cosy night in after a hard day out on the hills. It's perfectly located for the peace and quiet of the countryside but close enough to explore towns such as Keswick, Carlisle and Cockernouth; it's also conveniently located (short drive) to some beautiful lake walks. I would definitely recommend staying here.

This is a lovely cottage with very friendly and helpful owners who are based next door. It is in a very peaceful location within very easy distance of the lakes and the Solway coast. The cottage has everything you could wish for and the owners ensure that you have everything you need and are happy to give advice when asked. A lovely cottage that we would be more than happy to return to. Less able visitors may find the stairs difficult, although I managed despite having some mobility issues.

We rebooked this cottage after staying last year and again found it to be excellent. The owners are friendly and helpful, sending us information about their Covid policy in advance of our stay and left us a lovely hamper for our arrival. The cottage was spotless and has everything you could need. The location is rural but we like that, it’s dog friendly too, only takes about 10 minutes to drive into the Lake District. Will definitely be staying again.

Beautiful cottage, well equipped and set in lovely garden with countryside views with cows. Had a red squirrel visit the garden on several mornings. Well positioned for visiting Solway coast, Western Lakes and Hadrians Wall. We loved it and would not hesitate to go back there.

Rated by Valerie W reviewed on 4th September 2020

Beautifully presented and absolutely immaculate dog friendly cottage, backing onto a field of cows which our 10 year old daughter loved! Ample parking and the owners, who live next food, are very helpful but not at all intrusive. Situated on the edge of the Lake District, the cottage is ideal for exploring the area. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Rated by KatieW427 reviewed on 27th August 2020

The surroundings to the cottage are peaceful and green. There are some good walks you can go on with or without a dog that are fantastic with amazing views and historical buildings. The hosts are extremely welcoming and supportive, the cottage was immaculate and everything you need is right there in the cottage. Great location for venturing either to the lakes or to Scotland, most of the days we went out on were 30 minute or less drive (we went to Maryport, Keswick, Gretna and Carlisle. I would 100% recommend this cottage.

Rated by Nomad05991571261 reviewed on 30th September 2019

The cottage is beautifully furnished with everything you would need. Fresh flowers a lovely touch as well as the provisions supplied on arrival. Friendly owners, there if you need them. The cottage is an ideal base for exploring both the Lake District and the gorgeous Solway coast. The beaches were ideal for the dog. Would highly recommend.

We stayed for a week at the end of August, using the property as a base for our days out in the Western Lakes. As a family of 4 with 2 kids (and a dog) the property was great - clean, nicely decorated with really friendly and helpful owners. 1 Leesrigg Cottages is attached to the owners house, but they respect your privacy and it's helpful to have them their incase of any issues. The only issue we found at all was that it was a bit of a squeeze to get us all around the kitchen table for dinner, but that is a really minor issue and didn't detract from our stay at all. We would recommend the property to anyone looking for a welcoming, comfortable base for a Lake District adventure!

We stayed here Easter weekend with our 2 teenage daughters and 2 dogs. The cottage is immaculate, decorated to a high standard and has everything you need. The owners live next door but you wouldn’t know they were there ( but are if you need them) would highly recommend this cottage

Thank you!

We stayed at this cottage over the new year and had an absolutely fantastic stay. We are keen walkers and love days in the countryside followed by relaxing evenings by the fire. The cottage ticked every box. Great location for Keswick, Cockermouth and not too far to Windermere. Everything you need is provided from kitchen equipment, towels, cleaning products, logs and fire lighters etc. All you need to do is enjoy! Our favourite family holiday by far. Thank you to Graham for allowing us to use the garage to store the kids bikes and advising us on places to visit. Would definitely love to go back. Hayley & Mark

We have just returned from spending a week away at Leesrigg cottage and we were so pleased every aspect of the stay. Graeme and Amanda were so helpful throughout and have made such a good job of renovating the cottage this summer. The quality of the finishings and all the little touches could not have been higher - comfortable beds, beautiful decor, lovely log fire, plenty of hot water and lots information about local attractions. They have even thought of all the additional luxuries such as hair straighteners, board games and dvds for kids which make all the difference. As we booked directly with them, we were also greeted with a hamper filled with lovely food and wine which was really thoughtful. Whilst there, we spent a number of days in Keswick which was only 20 minutes drive away and we also visited buttermere which had some of the most beautiful scenery. We took our two boys aged 2 and 6 as well as our two dogs and we all enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be returning soon to enjoy another relaxing holiday! Thanks again Greame and Amanda for making our holiday so special!!!
