Just what we needed.. relaxing break to get away from it all.. excellent hosts, immaculate accommodation and amazing garden with hot tub! Would definitely stay here again! Can’t wait!
On arrival was greeted with a building site complete with raidio and brick cutting from the builders at 8.00am .Is situated on a T junction 40 mph road so not a peaceful setting .Accommodation is tiny if staying a week. Not a fitted kitchen camping stove with portable oven no room to put food in storage.3/4 bed with no draws to put away clothes . One seater sofa so one person had to sit on the bed to eat food . Cant close door wilsts on the toilet as sliding door hits your knees. The deer pictures glam the place up but do not be fooled by the wide angle lense in pictures on website .Surrounding area is lovely but just dont stay at this accommodation
Just come back from a five day stay at this property. The owners are lovely and very friendly. I love my walking so this is an brilliant place to stay for that, lots of walking trails to do which are on the doorstep. Lesley gave me some routes to try and even took me to a shopping outlet which was very kind of her. After a long walk, the hot tub is very welcoming and did you it every day. Will be returning next year that's for sure. Thanks Lesley and Paul
Me and my partner had a brilliant time at the old smokehouse, the cottage is lovely and everything you need for 2. The host was very helpful and brilliant, will go the extra mile so you enjoy your stay. Will be returning
The Accommodation was beautifully clean and we were really please with complimentary food and drink including, milk, juice, bread, jam and wine. This was a lovely touch. Lesley was a host lovely and welcoming. The BBQ and hot tub (with great addition of fairy lights) were great for a lovely evening.
Booked a 3 night break in October for the Old Smokehouse...girls weekend away for a break from motherhood, full time work and general madness. This did not disappoint, Lesley met us on arrival as was the perfect host, nothing was too much trouble and she made us feel really welcome and looked after us (especially when we overdid it on the red wine). It was the perfect chill out and just what we needed. The place was spotless, private and had everything we needed. The hot tub was amazing and very well maintained. Can't wait to come back next year!
What a gorgeous little snug! We stayed at the Old Smokehouse for 3 nights at the beginning of October and it was just what we needed, such a cosy relaxing cottage. It was spotlessly cleanand decorated beautifully. We were greeted by Lesley on our first day and she couldn’t have been a better host throughout. Lesley was always on hand to help us and was so friendly. She really made us feel welcome and had thought of lots of little special touches to make our visit really memorable. We loved having access to the hot tub and listening to the sounds of the forest till late at night. Would highly recommend :)
We visited the Old Smokehouse for a week and couldn't be happier. Paul and Lesley are the perfect hosts and made sure we didn't want for anything. The property itself has been completed to a wonderful standard and the hot tub is brilliant, having a canopy to allow use even if the weather isn't great which is something that seems to be missing from a lot of rental properties. The barbecue and fire pit were perfect for nights in, and the property is in an excellent location at the heart of Cannock Chase; with Go Ape, walking and biking trails on your doorstep. Rugeley is a couple of miles down the road and I would highly recommend Silsila if you like Indian food. Shugborough Estate is also a 20 minute drive away and also well worth a visit! Thanks for a brilliant stay.
Wow what an amazing few days we’ve had here. Superb location for the Cannock chase the setting is so tranquil perfect if you love walking. The accommodation itself is spotlessly clean it has everything you need the hot tub was spotless there is nothing you can fault here the owners are friendly, and nothing was too much trouble. It’s a must if you want a few days away. Thanks guys perfect.
What an amazing place this is! You could be anywhere in the world once inside! Luckily we had the weather on our side! On arrival Lesley met us for tour around the property and with so much info on local things to see and do which was great! The property was spotless and had some hidden extra touches we didn't expect such as milk, bread, coffee, tea etc. Loved the hot tub! Think I spent most of my time in there! We enjoyed a fire and a BBQ on our first night which was just perfect. A walk round the forest is a must! Lots to do in the area within 30 mins drive also! We ate at Stags Leap in Rugeley and would highly recommend. All in all a fantastic weekend and I already cant wait to go back in the future. A truly wonderful experience and just what we needed to unwind. Thank you Paul and Lesley.
Had an amazing couple of nights at The Old Smokehouse. Beautifully furnished, with all the little touches you’d want from a home from home. A real bonus was stepping out the door, straight into Cannock Chase where we had great walks, and access to the Forestry Commission facilities, including hiring a couple of bikes. The owners gave great advice for a lovely local restaurant on our first night. We also took advantage of their Staffordshire breakfast package. The icing on the cake was sitting in the hot tub at midnight, with a glass of bubbles in hand looking at the stars and listening to the forest. Thank you!!
Just returned from a much needed mini-break and will certainly be revisiting this stunning Property! A former Smokehouse which provided everything we needed for some quality R & R time, from high end Furnishings, right down to the fluffy Throws for sitting around the Wood Burner on an extra chilly October night. Everything was spotlessly clean, Bed was exceptionally comfortable, Towels, Robes and Slippers were provided-adding that extra touch, and plenty of Tea, Coffee and Milk had been placed in the fully equipped Kitchen for our use. The Hot Tub was amazing and as the Garden is fully fenced in, this space feels very private. Modern Bathroom, plenty of Hot water all the time, again spotlessly clean and fresh. Private Parking right next to the Smokehouse, and all areas well lit. Just couldn’t fault it.
