Perfect for those seeking a countryside escape, the chocolate-box 16th century Rose Cottage sits peacefully overlooking fields, just outside the sleepy village of Manaccan on the South Helford. Absolutely charming, the cottage brims with traditional features - a thatch roof, beamed ceilings, stained glass window and an Inglenook fire place and is beautifully and thoughtfully presented. On the ground floor, the spacious sitting room is wonderfully comfortable and welcoming, with a collection of books and board games for evenings in by the fire. The lovely farmhouse kitchen floods with light each morning, and leads out on to the south-facing terrace and garden; a fabulous spot to sit and enjoy the views on a balmy summers evening. Upstairs, there are three shabby-chic bedrooms with plenty of storage, and a family bathroom with lovely freestanding, roll-top bath. Pretty as a picture, the creeks and woodland of the South Helford offer many beautiful walks and plenty of opportunity to get out on the water. Hire a kayak or sailboat and spend the day pootling along in the Cornish sunshine, perhaps stopping at a hidden inlet for a waterside picnic before heading home. Or why not relax and catch the passenger ferry to Helford Passage; here you can visit the stunning sub-tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The village of Manaccan is home to a traditional inn and an excellent café/restaurant, as well as a small village store which sells all the essentials. Perfectly positioned for a holiday of rest and relaxation, Rose Cottage is one to return to year after year.
