DO NOT BOOK. Cottage was not clean on arrival, Grease and cobwebs in the kitchen, Human Faeces on the outside of the toilet in main bedroom, Broken baby gate on the staircase despite them knowing we had 2 infants in our party. During our stay we had no hot water or heating, They came to fix it on the second day and told us the boiler just needed resetting, (We had to do that every 30 minutes) All our party had to shower at the hotel next door all week as the hot water lasted no more than 2 minutes.. While we were out the maintenance man who came to fix the boiler took pictures of our belongings which were waiting to be unpacked?. We gave them a bad review in the guest book and were then told we were being charged for leaving the cottage a mess. The Charge was for washing bedding and towels. We have asked them for confirmation that the towels and bedding are washed between all guests as i would hope but have had no answer. Sykes are a terrible company to deal with and have passed us directly to the owner. We are looking to get a refund via the small claims court. We have written to the owner with no response.
This cottage is situated in a pretty Hustins resort - which is a bonus so you can enjoy lovely grounds and facilities i.e. a swimming pool plus a sauna and a steam room and jaccuzzi. The cottage istelf however is run down and leaves an impression it is in a wrong hands of a maintanance agency which cuts lots of corners. The floors upstairs are so creaky that it interrupts people sleeping downstairs. Some taps are leaking. Security light on the decking area is switching on and off like crazy. The extractor fan in MB en-suite is broken so we had to open the skylight everytime after shower to dehumidify the en-suite but it's not great when it's raining! The oven glove is missing so we were risking to burn our hands every time using an oven. It's still one key for 5-6 people staying despite all complaints of the previous guests. And you'll have only 1 kitchen towel and 3 toilet rolls for the whole cottage for a week.
