There is also a kitchen/diner and a sitting room inside the property. Outside there is off road parking and a woodland surrounding the cottage. The Retreat can be used as a romantic getaway or as a base for a holiday of outdoor adventure. Note: One well-behaved dog welcome.

The Retreat forms part of a cosy stone cottage, on the grounds of the 18th century Appuldurcombe House, on the outskirts of Wroxall on the Isle of Wight. Set in a beautifully tranquil location, this bolt hole can be enjoyed equally as a romantic getaway or as a homely base for a holiday of outdoor adventure and exploration. Enter the property and be welcomed by its well-equipped, black and white galley kitchen which also plays host to a delightful dining table set for two. Head into the peaceful sitting room where you can unwind after a day of touring the area; a stunning French door lights the room up as well as offering soothing views of the surrounding woodland. A couple of steps up brings you to the pristine tiled shower room, the perfect spot to get yourself ready for a night in the local Star Inn pub. Take the stairs and arrive at the wonderfully bright and airy double bedroom, the open layout and fresh features give it a real sense of homeliness. Enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this Wroxall cottage with a morning stroll through the 300 acres of woodland that surrounds you. The village of Wroxall has a high-quality pub serving food and a convenience store for your daily essentials. The wonderful seaside resort of Ventnor comes within a five-minute drive and offers a wide range of amenities, as well as a golf course and a glorious sandy beach. Even though you do not have a private garden , you are in the Grounds Of Appuldurcombe House you are able to stroll around the Parkland surrounding the house. The Isle of Wight is easily navigated by car, meaning that you could spend the day at northern Cowes, or take a trip west to the Isle of Wight AONB. The Retreat is a lovely and cosy cottage in an excellent location.

The whole of the island is easily accessible by car as it is only around 25 miles wide, you can visit the Isle of Wight AONB and the Hamstead Heritage Coast.

My wife & I just returned after a very enjoyable long weekend here. We found the accommodation small but comfortable. The photos make the rooms look bigger than they are but it's fine. We had our two dogs with us and they loved it too. The Retreat is tucked away behind the main building so was a little tricky to find on the dark wet night we arrived. The bed was comfortable and clean (located on the top floor). The bathroom is just off the stairs and everything else on the ground floor. The TV was great, better than you usually find in holiday lets. The location is excellent, very close to Ventnor 10 mins drive max and very peaceful with nothing more than the rustling trees to fall asleep to. The house ruins are just a 200 yard walk downhill from the property. You can walk around it at any time although out of opening hours I recommend keeping at least 15 metres away so as not to set off the cameras and alarm. As far as cleanliness the property was good but not perfect, there were the odd cobwebs and some extra effort on general cleaning would be beneficial. The property heating works well and the hot water was good. The shower worked OK if a little weak and the kitchen was fine too, being fairly well set up and tidy..one cook at a time . If we have been critical then don't be put off, we would definitely return but probably take one of the rentals with a little more room. Perfect for 1 or 2 people to explore from.
I stayed here for the first time but I won’t be the last time I stay there when I got there on Friday 20/9/19 the place was spotlessly clean and fresh looking even down to milk put in the fridge for me and a bottle of wine on the side it’s great for couples or a single guy or girl very relaxing place to stay lots of grounds on site for some nice walks great caretaker on site if you have any problems you can count on so try this great place for your next break on the Isle of Wight at Wroxall called the retreat love mr cheeky in Kent x
