As you climb a few stone steps to the front door of the property, you walk alongside the established front garden which has a dog-friendly ‘pooch patch’ and patio area. Upon entering the property you are welcomed by a cosy sitting room featuring a wood burner. After a busy day exploring you can sit back and relax in front of the TV. Wander through into the delightful and spacious kitchen/diner with its stunning original floor tiles, the gas wood burner brings a sense of comfort while the rustic wooden kitchen is designed to set you up perfectly for your Derbyshire cottage break. A large map, wall mounted, enables you to plan your next adventure. Set over three floors, the first floor offers a delightful double bedroom, a stylish twin room and a pristine, all-white family bathroom with shower. The twin room, with beautiful views of Matlock town, the hills beyond and Riber Castle, has a staircase leading to the converted loft. The loft room is a spacious double with a contemporary feel, its own TV and a light-filled Velux window. To the back of the property there is a stone outhouse perfect for storing bicycles, boots and coats. Up a set of stone steps, you will find a serene raised patio where you can kick back and relax together. This cottage reflects the history of John Smedley who is a key figure in Matlock history, with features such as the cotton mill bobbins.
