Location Details

Bridgwater is a popular destination with a shopping centre. Close to the Mendip Hills and the Quantocks, the town has historical buildings, a selection of restaurants and pubs and is notable for the Bridgwater Illuminated Carnival in November. Cheddar is a few miles away, as is Glastonbury. The wetland areas surrounding Bridgwater are known for wildfowl and birds. Nearby Shapwick Heath is an example of a wetland nature reserve worth a visit, as is the Steart Marshes on the Bridgwater Bay National Nature Reserve. Bridgwater offers a variety of activities and is conveniently placed for all visitors.

Somerset offers 3 areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty - the Quantock, Mendip and Blackdown Hills. Lose yourself in the glory of nature, take a ride on a steam train, visit a traditional farmer's' market or explore your mystical side at Glastonbury.

Reviews

We have just returned from a weeks stay at The Granary in Edington. The location is very quiet and peaceful but there is an excellent local shop within 2 minutes walk of the property. They stock a wide range of food and drink including the Cook range of frozen meals. There is also a choice of 3 pubs within a mile range. We received a warm welcome from Simon who was extremely helpful throughout our stay. The Granary gardens are delightful and we had both table and chairs and loungers. The pool was great to dip in to cool down, very welcome as we were lucky with the weather. The Granary is nicely furnished with an open plan kitchen diner and sitting room. There is a small compact shower room downstairs. The heated towel rail was very appreciated. Steep stairs lead to a lovely mezzanine bedroom area with a super king bed which was very comfortable. There is also a single bed opposite which can be separated by a screen if required.Although steep the stairs have clear markings on the edges and there is a night light to use in the kitchen to illuminate them. There is storage heaters and an additional gas heater for chilly evenings. The area is very pretty with plenty to see and do. We visited Dunster castle and village which was a full day and very enjoyable. We also enjoyed the steam train ride to Minehead. If you fancy some shopping the Clarks village is also close by.
