I can highly recommend staying at this cottage. Before our stay we received a text message from the owners with some additional information about the cottage and this was really appreciated. When we got to the cottage we were welcomed with a bottle of wine, biscuits and an information sheet which was very helpful. The cottage is decorated beautifully and was very cosy and warm. The kitchen is fully equipped and there are lots of books and games to play, if you didn’t take any with you. Don’t be put off that their isn’t an allocated parking space at the cottage as a few seconds walk there is plenty of parking and we never had any problems finding a space. The village is stunning and the locals are extremely friendly. I can recommend The Masons Arms for food and good company and the Fenwick gallery for beautiful artwork created by local artists Nicole and Dorien. Warkworth Castle is worth a visit and the beach is only a 10/15 minute walk away. If you want to venture out a little further then visit Hadrian’s Wall, Dunstanburgh castle, Barters Books and Alnwick. We also took the train from Alnmouth to Edinburgh, this took just over an hour. If you like shopping then the Metro centre in Gateshead is worth a visit, it’s huge! We had a lovely relaxing week away here and will definitely be returning returning in the near future.
Great accommodation, immaculately clean with everything you needed for a self catering holiday. Not that we did much cooking with the good eating places within walking distance - with a surprising number of options for a small village. Would recommend the Masons Arms for good, and plentiful meals on an evening and the Cabosse during the day for the best hot chocolate you will ever have.. A walk back along the side of the river after a meal was very pleasant. An excellent bus service, which puts my local one to shame, means there are options for trips out without having to use the car. Would heartily recommend this property, which is excellent value for money. This was the first time we have holidayed in this area but will be returning, and will be booking this property again. Finally, a word about the helpful owners. We had a slight problem with the TV but after ringing them they were at the property within the hour, driving from their own home a few miles away and sorted it. Great service. All in all a wonderful week.
