Reviews

Absolutely beautiful little house and spotlessly clean. The prosecco in the cooler was a very nice surprise too, thank you! The 3 bedrooms, shower rooms, lounge areas and kitchen were very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Well within walking distance of the lake itself and Bowness too. We had a wonderfully relaxing trip. The only issue we had was upon arrival when we attempted to park round the back of the property (in the advertised “off road parking”) we were unable to do so because of the amount of cars and vans from a nearby business which made it impossible to access the rear parking bay. We managed to get parked at the front and used the parking permit provided at the accommodation, however it is a fairly busy road I think we were lucky to get a space. Just something for the owners, and other guests, to be aware of.

What a lovely cottage in the centre of Windemere, Everything you need home from home, clean, spacious and nicely decorated, all rooms en-suite. The hot tub was great too. Coop at the end of the street if you need anything. There are some great bars, restaurants, cafes and takeaways here or Bowness was only a short walk too, but we did get a taxi back after visiting some lovely pubs here. The boat trip here was worth a visit. Even though the weather wasnt too good we still had a great time. Thanku hope to be back next year, highly recommended. X

Booked this due to the location and the bonus that it has a hot tub. Then place is spotlessly clean, loved the welcome pack one arrival such a nice little touch. All the rooms, have a TV again added bonus and there was also a selection of DVDs available. The place has two reception rooms, the one downstairs is nice and cosy, but is the only TV that doesn't have a DVD player. The one upstairs again is cosy, but it would be nice if there was a curtain, rather than netting over the door, we ended up putting one of the blankets over to block out the light. As with another review here, the ensuite in the front bedroom is small and if you want to use the toilet you do have to sit sideways. We would of like some more information on the area, places to visit etc and maybe a guest book so people can also recommend things to do. The location is perfect in central Windermere, close to shops, cafes and restaurants.

Stayed here for a girls weekend. The cottage definitely had the WOW factor! Everything about it was was fantastic. It was clean, modern, comfortable and warm. We all felt instantly relaxed and made full use of the cottage & the hot tub. Enjoyed my stay so much and know my friends did too. Thank you so much for a fantastic few days.

My husband booked for us to stay at this cottage in the 25th January 2019 for two nights as a birthday gift to myself. The weekend cost just short of £500. We arrived at 7pm in the evening but were unable to get into the property until almost 8pm as we hadn't been informed in advance we had to go on a key hunt! We were greeted with a freezing cold 3 storey house. Not great if you have young children or anyone with limited mobility with you. First impressions were how pretty the cottage was but this was unfortunately very short lived as we soon saw how dirty the place actually was. It clearly hadn't been hoovered, hair and crumbs everywhere. The mirrors and windows were all covered in hand prints. The shower tray was full of pubic hair and dirt. Dirty cups and cutlery. But the worst was the unwashed bedding!!! You can tell when bedding which is covered in make up has been washed and is jyst strained, no this was fresh foundation and mascara. Absolutely disgusting. I've added pictures. As this was my birthday treat we decided to not ruin the weekend and instead contact Sykes cottages to address these issues once we got home. On the Saturday evening at around 5.30 while my husband was in the shower and I was drying off my two youngest children, my son (6) and daughter (4) after their showers the electricity all went off. We were in complete darkness. My son who has autism went into meltdown and my little girl was petrified. None of the other houses in the street were effected. After contacting skyes we were told an electrician would be around soon to fix the problem. As the children were so scared we had to leave the cottage and take them out in the freezing cold with soaking wet hair. At 9.30 we were informed that the electrician wouldn't be there that night and we were to basically go home. We had to pack our belongings in the pitch black with terrified children and drive home. Our 3 children didn't get into their own beds until midnight!!! We were devastated having to leave early as we had booked a tour of the lakes for the Sunday which we lost our money on. Now you would expect to be given an apology from skyes and some sort of refund. But no. The owner of the cottage point blank refused to give us anything other than £100. Our weekend was ruined, the cottage was disgustingly dirty, our children were massively put out and distressed but the greedy owner of this cottage believes a £100 refund is sufficient. No apology, no free one nights stay (not that I'd go back!) for the night we paid for and lost!! Nothing. Disgraceful. If that wasn't bad enough, 5 days after returning from the cottage I developed a rash on my face which turned out to be impetigo. The doctor believes I caught this from the hot tub which we used for all of 15 minutes! Please book somewhere else.

Lovely cosy cottage in the centre of Windermere. Very well equipped, clean, convenient for everything. Hot tub great, temperature good, marvellous to relax in after a long days walking in the wonderful countryside. We will definitely be returning and will recommend to others.

We love this place. We have stayed here 4 times. Great location , bang in the Center of Wibdermere near all the bars and restaurants. The house is fully renovated to a high standard, spotlessly clean. Hot tub is fantastic. What a weekend. Brilliant.

Arrived at the cottage for a girls weekend away. The cottage itself was beautiful inside and very clean. Very bright and well presented. Hot tub was a great added extra and again very clean. Only problem was the on suite to one of the bedrooms you had to sit on the toilet sideways due to it being very small.
