Reviews

The most unrelaxing holiday I have ever had. I booked Fairways as the description on the Sykes website made it sound relaxing, in the countryside, so much availability to do some walking. It sounded so appealing. Wrong! The map showed that it was one of the bungalows on the main street, perfect. First off, the property is advertised on the Sykes website as being somewhere else on THEIR OWN map. They don't show any pictures of the outside of the property and the owner even stated to me that "it's because it doesn't have any curb appeal". Her words. Why they insist on calling this building a cottage is beyond me. It's a converted large garage at best. They also don't show any pictures of the bathroom, that's because it's so small and very unappealing. The door is a foot away from the toilet. They even have the cheek to call it a family bathroom on their site. Yeah, If you're a family of one! The back "garden" on the pictures only shows you part of the "garden" and that's because on the other side of the "garden" is an overbearing building with CCTV pointing at the "garden" and a public pathway that allows people to look into the lounge and kitchen windows. The fence panels on the other side are a different colour to the green ones you see. The picture of the kitchen has a large white appliance to the right of the picture. This doesn't exist and there is just empty space under that work surface. This property has very misleading pictures on Sykes website. I feel like I was completely miss sold and as far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't be able to get away with misleading their customers. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday then don't waste your hard earned money, book somewhere else. The owners I'm sure are laughing all the way to the bank. I've stayed in so many beautiful and relaxing holiday properties throughout Wales over the last 10 years and this is the first one I've stayed in that made me want to leave as soon as I arrived. My hard earned money for a week in that "house" is a joke. The owners should be paying you to stay there. Will never book with Sykes again. Misleading their customers, it's disgusting. The bad - Constant noise from the ladies and Men's entrance doors banging from 6am till 10pm every day. Constant noise from people chatting right outside the front door. Noise from people using an air pressure gun to clean grass off their golf club trolly and shoes right at the end of the "garden". The "garden" has a tiny patch of fake grass, the rest is block paved and is all uneaven. No privacy in the "garden" as people are always walking past. CCTV camera on the building next door which is pointing at the "garden" On two separate days and for about 4 hours each day, a tractor and a digger in the car park were moving sand from the car park to the golf course. The Engines were idling in the car park all day. Plus the noise from them scraping the bucket along the car park floor was excruciating. About 7" from the front door to the clubhouse. A flood light in the car park that's on all night so it feels like daytime in the bedroom. The sykes website says "a peaceful ambience for a good night’s sleep" You're joking right!? NO CHEESE GRATER. Who doesn't put a cheese grater in a holiday property?! Noise from cars pulling up all the time in the car park and banging car doors. 3 steps to come into the front door and 3 steps in the back garden. Not good for disabled people/animals. Tiny freezer in the fridge in the kitchen. Needs a tumble dryer as the clothes line outside is hung in the shade so it's pointless. The bins hadn't been emptied outside and stank. There is a garage attached to the property which is used to house the golf buggies. It's used daily and is noisy. The man that rents them out kept going backwards and forwards and this made a high pitched beeping EVERY. SINGLE.TIME. The Ugly - Very old fashioned inside with Artex on the ceiling and walls in the hall way and bathroom. Can't swing a cat in the bathroom and the tiles on the walls are straight out of a house from the 70's.
