So milltown house is one of the best cottages we have stayed at it is so peaceful we have stayed hear 2 or 3 times now love it and we due to stop again over Christmas and we can't wait I highly recommend it
A perfect, peaceful and full of charactor & charm. Milltown House is excellently located for exploring the numerous castles and coastline. Many great walks along the coast and so many places to explore. The owner Jamie came over to see us both the day after we arrived and towards the latter end to ensure all was ok and passed on some very good knowledge of the area. A very likeable and great host. The house has an external 'games room' with a ping pong table which we had some laughs playing. Some lovely evenings in the cosy lounge with the wood burner or in the hot tub under the stars. Would definately recommend the accommodation, the location and always good to have faith in the owner.
We spent a week in Milltown house following lockdown in the centre of Edinburgh. We had a great time in this lovely and characterful cottage forming one side of an enclosed courtyard of traditional stone former farm buildings. The owner Jamie could not have been more welcoming and helpful despite being busy: we really enjoyed the tour he gave us of his farm and new glamping site ( Shepherd’s Loch) . It looks very exciting and Jamie has many great and environmentally friendly ideas. Our teenage daughter loved the hot tub ( particularly at night illuminated by fairy lights)and the wood burning stove, with ample daily supplies of wood made the place, very cosy. The wider area is largely agricultural and not touristic which was perfect for us as we wanted to avoid crowds. Apart from enjoying the cottage and despite the closure of many attractions due to Covid 19, there was still plenty to do. There are good walks directly from the cottage and further afield. The cottage is well located for visiting the spectacular north east coast; Crovie, Pennan and Portsoy; the many nearby castles and gardens; and off course Speyside and all the distilleries. Highly recommended
An amazing holiday had for my partner and I at Milltown House. What a wonderful location to visit and view so many different attractions, I can honestly say that I am in love with this cottage. After a very long journey coming from Oxford, we arrived at our holiday destination. It was so cosy and warm with a fire burning, a welcome pack awaited us and beautiful fresh flowers decorating the room too. We were both very tired at this point and it was refreshing to take a hot shower and relax after on the sofas. Very clean and tidy and the kitchen accomodated all our needs too. The owner Jamie popped round to greet us and such a lovely person, he couldn’t do enough to help us. We were very lucky to view a local castle with Jamie’s guidance and he also allowed us to visit his farm too. A very hard working gent who has put a lot of consideration into his guests stay. We enjoyed a couple of nights in the hot tub which was very relaxing and a nice comfortable bed to sleep in too. If you need to get away somewhere peaceful but near areas with plenty to do, I would definately recommend Milltown House. Thank you Jamie for a fantastic stay, Fred and I will be back again next year.
Jamie was a fantastic host - he popped round to check that we were settled in and warm enough. Once you get the fire going it is lovely. Nothing was too much of an effort and he even took us on a run to his farm. The rest of the time we felt completely isolated and it was like having our own little world away. We spent one of the evenings stargazing in the hot tub, the house itself was spacious and when the fire was on it was so cosy. Wonderful. We will be back to Millton house in summer 2019 to take advantage of the coastal walks. Wish we could've stayed longer!
Such an amazing barn conversion that was very well equipped and welcoming with tastefully furnished rooms oozing in Scottish culture! We loved every minute and have booked already for next year. Jamie the owner was so welcoming and friendly through our stay. Can't wait to return next year!!
The cottage is beautiful, very clean and comfortable. Milltown house has a lot of additional things such as a ping pong table and a darts board which kept us entertained first thing on a morning during a bit of competative playing. There is lots to do, see and explore around the area with lots of lovely beaches close by. The stay was perfect, and the owners were amazing, they informed us of local haunts, walks and experiences which made our stay easier in terms of knowing where to go and experiences we could have whilst we visited based upon our interests. On the close by beaches, with children you are able to do a bit of crabbing and fishing, which with an 8 year old was good as there was lots of little fish to catch. Overall an amazing cottage and place.
