Rupert was the perfect host. He responded to emails and messages promptly and helpfully so thanks very much. There was plenty of space for three families to spread out but meet up when wanted. The laminated walks were really useful and allowed us to walk from the house to see the area in more detail. The Rattlebone pub two minutes walk down the road serves excellent food. The shop across the road has everything you need - there really isn't a need for a huge shop like we did! There's an amazing playpark within 5 minutes walk of the property - enough to entertain people from 8 months to 60+ - it even has a zip wire! Locally there are numerous things to do - Lacock and Dyrham Park are National Trust places. The Westonbirt Arboretum is a must. Matara is a tranquil spot and Malmesbury is definitely worth a visit with the Abbey Gardens. Castle Combe is pretty and walks from there are worth doing! The house has everything you could need - no need to bring a blender, a mixer, wine stopper, an icemaker ... the list is endless! The kitchen even has herbs, spices and cake making ingredients. The freezer compartment in the fridge is not large but the local shop across the road has everything most people could want - including Calpol for babies! The washing machine and dryer work well so no need to pack loads of clothes. The cottage is actually a large house with quirky characteristics which show why it's a listed building! There's space outside to use the quality charcoal BBQ The beds are firm. The house was clean and tidy when we arrived and we found places to store our food. Decoration - yes a farm vet has clearly left his make and had fun with cows and chickens featuring on mats, serviettes, egg cups etc! The helpful red folder was used many times so thank you.
