Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
We decided to stay away this Christmas and had spend a long time searching for the right place. Delighted to say we found what we were looking for. What a fabulous place to stay. Watching the sunrise across the fields with only the wildlife making any sound is perfection. Barney the dog is a welcome visitor. Friendly and gentle. Jane & Phil are great, ensuring we were comfortable from the very start. Homemade mince tarts and milk in the fridge were unexpected and a really nice touch as were the fresh flowers. The underfloor heating works well and the log burner fantastic for the romantic tough. Kitchen really has everything you need (and more). Use of the washing and drying facilities is useful. Plenty to do in the area. Pub wise we would recommend the Otter near Honiton. Shopping in Honiton includes Tesco, M&S, Aldi & Lidl. No problems here. All in all possibly the best cottage we have ever stayed in. Hope to come again.
We stayed at The Old Log Shed in Honiton for a week at the end of July and had a lovely holiday. The owners and their family are so welcoming and helpful and the house itself is beautifully furnished, equipped to a very high standard and so comfortable. The barbecue area and terrace is a wonderful, well thought out outdoor living space and a great bonus. The garden is fabulous and, with two boys, it was great for kicking a football around and they also loved the tennis court. I would happily recommend the accommodation and its surroundings; it was peaceful, picturesque, relaxing, cosy and so comfortable. I can imagine it would be lovely all year round with the log burner in the living room to keep you warm and snug in colder months. If you are looking for a cosy, comfortable and relaxing home from home to have a great break in Devon, then this is a great place to stay.
