We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Hornshayne Farm and have had a wonderful time. Our family of 3 sons, 3 daughters in laws and three grandchildren spent the weekend together in this lovely old farmhouse. When we walked in we found it very warm as there is an Aga in the kitchen and heating all through the house. There was a nice welcome of 2 bottles of wine and some lovely eggs fresh from the farm plus milk in the fridge. Andrew and Sally, the owners, were very welcoming and we were able to go around the farm whenever we liked. We watched the cows being milked, saw the calves being fed and enjoyed watching the sheep with lambs in the field by the house and playing with the dogs. Unfortunately, 2 sons and partners had to leave by the Monday but our remaining son, wife and child enjoyed the rest of the week with us and one of the highlights was seeing two calves born, Andrew having rung to say they were on their way if we wanted to see the births. We had some lovely walks from the property and the whole holiday was very relaxing. There was a lovely games room (which we didn’t really get to use as the weather was so good) with football, snooker etc and lots of toys and books for the children. The property is surrounded by fields and is at the end of a long road and you get no traffic noise at all - apart from the odd tractor!

Our second visit to Hornshayne Farm and it won't be our last. A beautiful, clean and well equipped farmhouse in idyllic countryside setting with wonderful views, walks and river fun. Ideal for large multi generation family groups and dog friendly. Run by very welcoming family and lots to be involved with on the working farm. Lots of family friendly things to see and do within 30 minute drive including beaches and the nearby town of Honiton is ideal for supermarket supplies and anything else you may need.

This delightful farmhouse offers an excellent holiday for an extended family group or groups of families. The outdoor space, with its wooden fort and slides and sandpit are ideal for children up to age 10. There is table tennis and a pool table for older children. The first day we just stayed on the property and enjoyed the outdoor space. Then you can go and look at the calves and chickens and have a conducted tour by the Hurford family.

We had a fantastic holiday in the beautiful setting of this Devon farm. The owners were very hospitable. The children really enjoyed being involved with farm life including giving milk to the cows and even seeing a calf being born. The facilities are great and full of character. A lovely week away.

We loved staying at Hornshayne farmhouse for the week. It was immaculate and clean and very well equipped for children. The owners were lovely showed around the maternity pen and the baby calves which went down well with the children. Would love to visit again, we are missing Maud already!

Just back from a wonderful long weekend in Devon. We needed a large house for extended family and it didn't disapoint. Enough beds and plenty of living space for us all. Well equipped kitchen and really felt like going from home to home. The extra touches really go a long way, children's books, toys, Wellys to borrow at the back door, ride on toys, the best fort our little one has played on with sandpit too! A tour to see the baby calves with the farmer's sons and the owners letting us know more had been born that night made us feel very welcome. Just 30 mins from Lyme Regis and farm land all around, perfect. We will certainly be back and if you're looking for a large property with space for everyone you won't go wrong with this place

This is the second time we've stayed at Hornshayne Farm with our two groups of friends, and again for New Year. It did not disappoint. The facilities of the house itself are excellent - plenty of seats in the kitchen and living room, good equipment in the kitchen, as well as lovely bedrooms. The two real highlights, however, are the excellent rural location (great walks!) but above all being located on a working farm. The owners (and their children) are so welcoming and helpful and positively encourage you to take an active interest in the farm. For our children to help with the milking and see 3 calves being born was a real highlight - priceless in fact. We all cannot wait for our next visit and another relaxing break.

This is our second visit to Hornshayne Farm and was equally as enjoyable as the first. This is one of the nicest houses we have stayed in, as a group of 9 that have been getting together every year for 15 years! The accommodation is very comfortable and suits our group well; with plenty of space and well laid out bedrooms. We have 3 boys amongst us, all of whom had a wonderful time on the farm; being entertained by the owners boys; playing hide and seek, watching calves being born, helping to milk the cows and even having a go at tractor driving......the owners and farmers could not have been more accommodating. For the adults, the house is set in the most beautiful countryside where you are free to walk and enjoy some of the most amazing views; a very relaxing and tranquil setting. Thank you for a very enjoyable week, we were all sad to be leaving and can't wait to come back!

We have just returned from the most wholesome, relaxing holiday we have had in years. We chose this farm house to celebrate our parents special wedding anniversary, so had a very mixed group - from 5-70 years old! Every one was very happy and relaxed. We found that we rarely left the wonderful kitchen where we sat around the rayburn and toasted our feet. That said we very much enjoyed our time on the farm. Andrew and his father, Ellis, adopted the children and allowed them to take part at the milking parlour and feeding the calves. The children sneaked off on tractor rides and were allowed to help where ever possible on the farm - there was even a stream for minnow finishing! The dogs, Maude and Bob, were so friendly - Maude accompanied us on every walk ( and she had just had a litter of puppies much to the children's delight). Andrew was never too busy to stop and help us, often taking time out to explain what was happening on the farm. The farm house was very well equipped and we had everything we needed. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very well appointed and everyone slept very well on the very comfortable beds - esp after days full of fresh air. The water was pure and delicious - coming from a spring on the farm. Sally provided us with free range eggs and free range meat and poultry from the farm. Sally also recommended the most wonderful caterers who came in and served us with a very special meal. There was a great games room and play area for the kids and wonderful views from house. The worst thing about this holiday was having to leave - we discussed staying for an extra few days, but alas another lucky family were taking our place, I hope they enjoy their stay as much as we did! We have already discussed our return...

Four generations aged from 2 to 84 enjoyed a lovely holiday. The house is comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The play room and outside play area is great for smaller children and the games barn ideal for the older ones. Even though you are on a working farm the setting is peaceful. We enjoyed seeing the calves being fed and a bonus that a new one was born just before we left. The location is good for visting Beer, Seaton, Honiton. We were only a party of 6 but could see that with its great farmhouse kitchen and large sitting room it would work well for larger groups. The bedrooms are spread over three levels but the stairs are shallow and did not present a problem even for the oldest member of our group. Beds were comfortable and bedrooms of a good size, even the top floor bedroom in the beamed eaves is airy and spacious. We all hope to return in the future. Recommended.

I stayed here with my family (5 adults and 5 children). We had a great week. The house is equipped with everything you could possibly want. The children had a great time experiencing farm life first hand. They saw a calf born and were lucky enough to see new born puppies. They collected eggs from hen house. They also fell in love with Bob the farm dog. Sally and Andrew were really friendly as were their sons Charlie and Ross.i would recommend this house and we will definitely be back.

We stayed the week commencing the 22nd August. The best family holiday we have ever had. This place is simply perfect. We had five adults and five children in our group. Andrew and Sally the owners where lovely. The kids got to see the cows being milked, a calf being born and Maud the dog had puppies whilst we were staying. The children also got to pick the eggs. The house is very well equipped. Lots of room for all of us and plenty of bathrooms. Very reasonable price for such a great house. The outside space is brilliant. We will be booking to go back again.

We booked this venue to celebrate my father in laws 75th birthday. In total there were ten of us staying for a week, five adults and five children. The farmhouse is in a very remote setting at the end of a no through road. This makes it an even more enchanting place to stay. The views are amazing, and being woken up to the sound of cows and chickens adds to the charm of this lovely farmhouse. The farmhouse is well equipped with plenty of space and more than adequate facilities. The owners are very hospitable and made us all feel very welcome. The children loved being able to look around the farm, not to mention falling in love with Maud and Bob, the resident dogs. We would love to return and would definitely recommend this venue.

This holiday was arranged as a 70th birthday celebration with family members from age 1 to 70. The farm is remote! Middle of nowhere at the end of a narrow lane so it is quiet and peaceful. Firstly, the accommodation was excellent. All bedrooms were a good size, beds very comfortable and bathrooms were good too, (good showers, lots of hot water, even a view of the fields from the loo)! Downstairs the kitchen is enormous with a huge fireplace and Aga and big table. The kitchen had lots of original features which led to many discussions about what life must have been like there hundreds of years before. There were also 2 small playrooms which entertained the children - the smallest room with just a playstation, the second with a variety of toys. The living room was huge with plenty of seating for everyone. There was also a utility room and boot room which was great as we were often covered with mud. Across the garden, the games barn was equipped with table tennis and snooker etc where we had a good Hallowe'en party for the children. Outside the children has use of a lovely safe play area with a fort, sandpit and playhouse. They enjoyed it so much they were out playing some mornings by 7am! But, what makes this place so special is the farm itself. When it says working farm that is exactly what is meant - it is not a holiday let describing itself as a farm because it has a barn and fields. Andrew the farmer is very accommodating and patient, showing the children milking of the cows and feeding the calves. Unfortunately the cows only gave birth in the dead of night but we got to see the calves when just hours old. The children have had a wonderful time getting plastered in mud and doing things that they would never normally do. The dogs adopted the children which they loved, (probably because no one else wanted to play at 6.30am)! I could go on writing but I can probably sum it up by my son's quote on the morning we left, "I don't want to go home, can we stay again?"
