After parking your car at its superb off-road parking spot, you will instantly be welcomed by the tranquil setting of this property. Stepping into the cottage you will look forward to spending time within the conservatory area which is perfect for enjoying your morning coffee, picking up a set of binoculars or simply admiring the changing tides, sunshine playing on the water and outstanding bird life on the foreshore and mudflats below. You can also observe the dynamic views from the comfort of the living room, both day and night as birds can be seen gliding and soaring across the mudflats and channel below as the tide comes in and out – an ornithologist's dream! During those chilly winter evenings, sink into the plush sofas with your loved ones, where you can get lost within a book or a TV programme while the warmth of the wood burning fire and the original exposed beams fills the room with charm. Beyond here, is the amply equipped kitchen boasting both induction/electric and AGA cooking facilities as well as a set of traditional units and wooden worktops with all the appliances you could need to cook up a delicious meal for your family or friends. As the evening draws to a close, retire for the night to the two well-presented bedrooms, sleep with the curtains and blinds open if you like waking to spectacular views. Spend a moment or two within the side and rear lawned garden area, where your canine companion can stretch their legs. Alternatively, there is a terrace patio area complete with furniture to the front of the property which overlooks the magnificent river views and distant Cornish countryside - a lovely spot to sit out and enjoy a refreshing beverage or a bbq, while watching the captivating sunset. This outstanding cottage is blessed with close proximity to the wonderful market town of Tavistock which enjoys an undeniable uniqueness, with breath-taking architecture and a fine selection of shops and dining opportunities. Bere Ferrers is a mile away (closer than Bere Alston); it’s where the Tamar and Tavy rivers join. The Olde Plough is a lovely mixture of old and new; with locally sourced produce and a rear courtyard garden to catch the west-facing sun with views across the river, this pub makes a lovely evening out, a lunch spot after a game of tennis or indeed a well earned drink after a Devon cycle ride. For the more adventurous guests, why not jump on your bike to the Tamar trails or the immediate locality, or for a more relaxed day trip, jump on the Heritage Valley Train line to wonderful Calstock and walk on to Cothele and its boatquay tea room. We stayed at the lovely cottage a week before Christmas in 2022 - I think this was the 3rd rearranged date due to covid! A week before Christmas was the perfect time, some might say risky as you need to be organised before you go but we felt we breezed into Christmas much less stressed than usual so I would definitely go again! The sunset view when we pulled up was breath taking, you couldn't hear a pin drop in the 5 days we were there it was total bliss. The walks were amazing, as was the local pub who's Landlady actually ran a pub years ago in our home town of Northampton!! Our dog Gracie although older now and can't walk miles had a lovely time - she was left her own goodie box to arrive to - and our cream teas were a lovely gesture and well needed after the long drive. Tavistock a short drive away was great for picking up the last of Christmas presents - we loved it there. Village itself was super friendly and made to feel welcome. Perfect hosts, perfect location and we will definitely return. Thank you :)

Fabulous time at Clamoak, nestling on the banks of the River Tamar. Perfect spot for some cycling on quiet roads, with a bit of climbing thrown in. Local pubs great for off-bike refueling. Night sky topped it off. Thanks to David and Fi for allowing us to have such a lovely weekend getaway.

I stayed at Clamoak cottage over August bank holiday weekend. I couldn’t believe the view when we arrived, it’s a stunning location right next to the water and was just perfect for the restful last-minute getaway we wanted. The cottage itself was perfect for our requirements-two lovely bedrooms and well-kitted out with everything we could need. Spending an evening sitting out by the water having a bbq was perfect, and we couldn’t believe how many stars we could see. I came back to Bristol refreshed and wishing I’d stayed for longer. I would love to return to Clamoak in future, thank you!

We got away to Clamoak for the August bank holiday and we could not have wished for a more relaxing break. Clamoak cottage is a beautifully appointed riverside haven nestled in the Devon hills. The surroundings were serene, the house was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and the host could not have been more accommodating.

We had a lovely week with the 2 dogs at Clamoak Cottage. Fi and her team are fantastic and the house was warm and welcoming. The location is wonderful with lovely views of the Tamar River yet close enough to a lovely local village with great amenities. We wanted for nothing, were thoroughly entertained and the welcoming scones and apple juice were a lovely surprise. I would definitely recommend this cottage, it was a wonderful holiday!

Clamoak is a little slice of heaven. We had a wonderful week in this beautiful area of Devon tucked alongside the Tamar. Clamoak cottage is a comfortable home from home and is brilliantly dog friendly. Our eight year old Labrador Retriever loved sniffing around the gardens and foreshore. We loved how safe it was for her. We all enjoyed peaceful walks in the local area and slightly further away on Dartmoor. The owners gave us lots of ideas and information about places to visit. The tranquil and pretty gardens wrap around the cottage. There is lots of seating outside - I spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the stunning views. Clamoak is the perfect place to escape to and enjoy some time with nature.

Beautiful scenery and many gorgeous walks alongside the River Tamar. A welcoming cottage with an extremely well kept garden and cosy living room. Perfect for a family getaway and to escape from the busy world we live in!

We had a lovely week staying in Clamoak. It’s got great views overlooking the river and there’s a nice garden at the front where you can sit out and watch all the boats. The cottage is very comfortable and clean with decent sized rooms and is well kitted out if you’d rather self cater. We were a party of 3 (7 year old son) and a dog. It’s an ideal spot if you want to explore both Devon and Cornwall and the local beaches and walks weren’t too busy.

We’ve recently returned from a wonderful week in Clamoak Cottage. Situated in a beautiful part of Devon, it’s impossible not to relax and unwind here. The house was extremely comfortable and had everything we needed. Set in a very pretty garden, right on the river it was perfect for getting away from normal busy life. The river is full of birds from kingfishers and Curlews to Little Egrets and Cormorants which come in at low tide, all of which we spent countless hours watching. A short drive (or long walk) takes you to Bere Ferrers (which is beautiful and lovely pub with great food) or Bere Alston for provisions. We were very lucky with the weather and spent most of our day just sitting by the river, reading, drawing and soaking up the silence. If you feel the need to leave the house then Calstock is worth a visit (we got the train from Bere Ferrers) and there’s a very pretty walk through the woods to Cotehele from there. A little further is Burrator Reservoir which has some stunning walks and plenty of ice cream vans! Tavistock is about 8 miles away, a pretty market town with all the usual supermarkets etc on the outskirts. If you want absolute peace and quiet in a beautiful, quiet part of Devon, then I cannot recommend Clamoak highly enough.

Very quiet cottage with gated access. The cottage is adjoined via the kitchen to the next door property, but I didn't find any disturbance issue and wasn't awoken in the morning even with the windows open. Parking and access - Two cars can be parked, but bear in mind the property is on a Devon single lane country corner and after a few turning attempts I found it easiest to reverse off the road rather than the eight point turn in my Mini with the car sensors being money well spent ;) Equipped - the cottage is well catered for with a washing machine (which I didn't use) and also a dishwasher which, sadly is missed at many cottages I visit. The cottage also has an Apps enabled TV for You Tube, Netflix as well as Sonos in the lounge as well as a gas barbecue. I found no issues with the internet. If I was to be picky, it would have been a plus to have an additional Sonos in the conservatory and a TV in the main bedroom. Although there is a DAB radio in the kitchen. Comfort - the bed was big and very comfortable and easily to a high standard, having stayed at The Shard earlier in the year my standards are quite high. Bathrooms were fully equipped. Pets - I traveled with my Collie dog. It was a credit to the owners that thought had been made towards him, being his vacation also. I tend to find too many owners take advantage of this, charge extra for no benefit to the vacationer or pet. The River - The Friday night appeared to be the most active on the Estuary, so make the most of the views on that evening.
