I had a lovely relaxing week at this cottage in early Sept, we actually cracked it with the weather, lots of sitting outside and enjoying the lovely weather. Used the BBQ that comes with the property aswell. Will hopefully be back my on my next visit to Scotland. xx
We stayed here on the first week after self accom opened up and we could not be happier with our decision. We arrived to a lovely welcome basket which was a great touch. The weather wasn't the greatest but the wood burner in the living area is fantastic on cold nights - it warms the full kitchn, living, dining are up pretty quickly. I was happy to see the owner also has an eco heating system (air source heat pump). the cottage is tastefully decor with lots once nice touched and a great selection of games to play with the family, we all had a great time as did the dog, will be back to stay again.
We stayed here in winter 2020 for 4 days and it was just a fantastic trip, the cottage is lovely, modern and traditional at the same time. the kitchen is just great as is the ensuite shower. the full place as spotless and we received a lovely welcome hamper, which even had a little whisky.
Let’s start off with the positives. The cottage itself is gorgeous. It's a great location with high end finishes throughout. Minus the kitchen issues we really did enjoy our stay but would not stay again. Sadly for us, the cleanliness issues upon our arrival took the shine off what was otherwise a great stay. I sent photographs to Sykes (who we booked with) shortly after our arrival at the cottage so that they could see what we arrived to after a long drive. The kitchen utensils just aren’t up to standard. Mismatched and randomly muddled in drawers. It did appear that the most frequently used kitchen items were in the worst condition which meant that we had wash several items before we could do anything else. Pans, cutlery and kitchenware was mismatched and unclean. The pans in particular had old, crusty food all round the edges. Just not in keeping with the rest of the cottage. We had to wash every single utensil before it could be used. Given the current global pandemic, issues with cleanliness were not something we were expecting. It did not fill us with confidence as it was very clear that some areas hadn’t even been checked never mind cleaned. Not what we were expecting. The welcome hamper was not so welcoming with the out of date items inside. Having now read the reviews left shortly before our stay we can see others had similar experiences to us. Such a shame when owners don’t take constructive feedback from guests and rectify issues. Won’t stay again and also won’t book through Sykes either as they’ve handled this atrociously to say the very least. Let’s hope this review doesn’t get ‘lost’ like the emails I have sent to both Sykes and the owner.
