Location Details
The small village of Trefor is surrounded by sea and mountains, overlooking Caernarfon Bay, and enjoys a harbour with stone breakwater pier and sheltered sandy beach that the Wales Coastal Path runs past, or the more adventurous can enjoy a regular surf outside the breakwater. The village benefits from a convenience store, Post Office and licensed social club. Nearby, in the village of Llithfaen, are the Welsh Language and Heritage Centre and restaurant. The pretty coastal town of Nefyn lies 7.5 miles away, sitting atop sweeping cliffs, and is home to a fine, two-mile stretch of sandy beach, along with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, and the award-winning golf club is popular with families and couples alike. Trefor is also within reach of the amenities of the popular towns of Pwllheli, Abersoch, Caernarfon, Portmeirion and Bangor. The coastline around this region is dotted with castles and coves, while fishing, sailing and watersports are all available. The start of the Snowdonia National Park is 5 miles away, with its dramatic scenery and abundance of superb walks. With its proximity to such a wide range of destinations, this area makes a superb base for a break in North Wales.
Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. From Snowdonia in North Wales to the Brecon Beacons and the Pembrokeshire Coast in the South.

The property is lovely with great facilities, however we encountered numerous maintenance issues during our stay which were reported but either ignored, made worse or we were advised nothing could be done during the duration of our stay. We spent time actioning plumbing repairs ourselves in the end. Following our return we emailed both Sykes Cottages and the owners of the cottage. We were offered a discount to return to the same property and any other alternative was declined and our email ignored. I didn't want a large compensation sum, just a token gesture would have been appreciated and appropriate. Such a shame, because the property really was amazing, in principle it just did not seem fair to pay the same high cost as those who (hopefully) will get to stay once all the necessary repairs are actioned. I have never had cause to complain about a holiday rental before, I'm so disappointed and feel let down by the response. My rating would have been excellent had it not been for the catalogue of issues....including shower flooding, sink leaking dirty water, velux window leaking heavily during bad weather and a broken/loose oven door.
