Nice cottage . The best thing was the secure courtyard, although it needs a fence to stop small dogs falling into the quite fast running brook to be swept away. This would be a dangerous torrent in wet months. Very disappointed that multi rental owner felt the need to jump on the scab bandwagon of nearly doubling 2022 rates because of COVID and captured audiences. Pity our pensions don’t double as well, but they don’t so we won’t be back as we can no longer afford it. We will remember though when the borders open and uk prices drop. Bed springs creak & squeak. No toilet brush ?. Turning TV on difficult due to obstinate remote. All household disturbed at night as doors cannot be opened quietly.
This was one of the most comfortable cottages we have stayed in Castleton and, though situated in a busy part of the village, once you are inside it is peaceful and relaxing. The decor is very tasteful, quirky in a nice way. The added touches we got for our Christmas stay made it really special. The private yard would be lovely to sit out in during the warmer months. IN the winter it added a sense of security as it made the entrance to the cottage very private. The owner is very accommodating and was in touch re the final details before our stay. So overall, comfortable, very dog friendly, great location, and a lovely welcome.
The location of this cottage is superb, on the doorstep to all of Castleton's amenities, wonderful walks and great pubs and cafes...a carpark pass is also included which saved the hassle of remembering to re-ticket the car.!!..The cottage itself was spotless, stylishly decorated, cosy and warm with a log fire (logs included) to cosy up to, it felt like you were in your own log cabin, there was also a selection of board games and wifi. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need, washing machine, dishwasher and tumble dryer. It even included a bottle of Prosecco and milk compliments of the owner Justine who was on hand to answer any of our questions. The two bedrooms upstairs, one double and a twin, again were beautifully presented. We slept like a dream as the beds were extremely comfortable with lovely bedding, and it was very peaceful and quiet. The bathroom was modern and included a powerful shower and fresh towels were on our beds for us. Our dog Hugo was also well catered for, a Belfast sink /bath with hosepipe was situated outside along with shampoo and even a dog towel!!... attention to detail is what makes this place a hidden gem, we would highly recommend it for a short or long break any time of the year. We'll be back!!
