We have recently returned home from what can oh be described as one of the best holidays we have been on. The house itself is in a fantastic location overlooking the harbour. It is five minute walk to the town centre but also away from the hustle and bustle. The house is well equipped and had a variety of things you would need. The attention to detail was fantastic especially for family holidays. The beds were comfy and although the house does have stairs these were safe with three young children. We just had a safety chat before hand about holding on to the rail etc. The bedrooms were all spacious and well equipped with very comfy beds and soft linen. Thankyou for a fantastic stay we are looking forward to booking again soon.
This property has the potential to be gorgeous, we stayed here last July and we’re very impressed, but sadly it has been neglected over the last 18 months and our recent stay was very disappointing. Unfortunately, this time we found the property to be dirty, shabby and in desperate need of repair, i.e., leaking radiators, broken panes of glass, threadbare carpets, over worn furniture, broken blinds to name a few. It also has very steep, turning stairs, which serving 3 floors, and unfortunately the hand rail is coming away from the wall, this needs fixing before an accident happens.
Wanting a short family break we booked this accommodation and paid a deposit to Sykes Cottages. The accommodation did state it had steep stairs, Perhaps we should have checked Sykes reviews before booking (lesson learned). Comments were that the property had very steep stairs with sharp turns. We immediately rang to change the bookings because we had two heavily pregnant ladies in our group. We did not want a refund but just to change the venue, we were also happy to pay any administration fee to move. The reply was a resounding no despite our circumstances I have to say it demonstrates a complete inflexibility and a total disregard for their clients. We have booked numerous accommodation thruoghout the UK. This the first, a very last time we will book with Sykes. Apologies to the owners of Church Street, I'm sure your property is wonderful but it just didn't meet out needs. learn from our lesson read the reviews!
Visited this property this weekend and I couldn’t of expected more! Enough space for us all to be able to move around without getting on top of each other. The property was in such a good location, everything within walking distance. The house was clean and fully equipped with everything we needed for our weekend stay. The rooms were modern and well presented with a good room lay out. Even the little details were there eg. Soft towels laid out on the bed. And the beds.... well they were soooo comfy and soft! Would definitely recommend and will be going back there in the near future.
