Dornie is a village set in the Highlands of Scotland. The village offers its visitors a range of walks and attractions, which includes Eilean Donan Castle and Loch Duich. Alternatively, you can cross the Skye Bridge which is a short 15-minute drive from the village, allowing your to explore the Isle of Syke.
This is an absolute gem of a rental property, not just because of its stunning location near Eilean Donan Castle, Skye and Wester Ross, but also because the accommodation has everything you need for a very comfortable relaxing family holiday. Recently tastefully renovated, the crofter’s cottage kitchen has everything you need for all food preparation and is bright, clean, very modern and fully equipped to create any culinary delight. All bedrooms are spacious and have very comfortable, supportive beds and superb standard bedding and linen. The master bedroom and en-suite bathroom afford fabulous views from Velux windows of the surrounding picturesque steep slopes giving a wonderfully peaceful and calming atmosphere. Both en-suite bathrooms and a ground floor shower room offer hotel standard comfort and facilities. The amply spacious living area combines dining room and lounge and is very cosy with a woodburner for colder seasons. There is an area in the garden with garden furniture to sit and relax if that is your chosen activity. On arrival we were greeted with complimentary milk, bread and Scottish shortbread, a very welcoming touch to start our holiday. Although the forecast was for rain most days, none actually arrived and we were able to fit in walks to the Glomach Falls and the Old Man of Storr, trips to Torridon, Portree and Plockton for a lovely lunch at The Stores and we had a good pub meal at Clachan in Dornie before exploring nearby Eilean Donan Castle. We also enjoyed a glass bottomed boat trip from Kyle with an excellent tour guide giving a talk on the wildlife, sea life and local fauna and flora. Having previously taken many holidays throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, we can honestly say this was one of the best family holidays to date. We would definitely recommend a very comfortable and relaxing stay at Tigh Fasgaidh if you are considering a holiday in this beautiful location.
Located near Eilean Donan Castle and handy for the bridge to the Isle of Skye, Tigh Fasgaidh is a perfect place to stay and visit the west coast of Scotland. With your own transport you can visit fishing villages steeped in history and enjoy views of rugged mountains, travel alongside lochs and green farmland dotted with wild Rhododendrons and breathe in the pure beauty of the numerous lochs. The renovated cottage is totally modernised and is heated throughout with electric heating and wood burning fires a well-equipped functional kitchen to prepare meals, a dining room and lounge area with large screen TV to relax after you have spent a day sightseeing. The generous sized bedrooms have en suites and good sized beds even for my 1.87 meter tall husband. The welcome guide includes many brochures for different activities from hiking, kayaking, to visiting pubs and restaurants. Whilst we were there the weather was typically Scottish and varied from gloriously sunny to mysteriously foggy, each day having its own beauty and we absolutely loved staying there.
