Accommodation Details

Two bedrooms: Both bedrooms are on the ground floor. 1 x master twin (zip/link, can be king-size on request) and 1 x smaller double room. 2 x shower rooms with shower, basin and WC. Kitchen. Living room with woodburner.

North Lodge is one of several lodges for the Bromesberrow Estate, at the southern end of the Malvern Hills, where the counties of Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire meet. The Regency cottage orné, with a charming thatched roof and rustic features, occupies a commanding position on the eastern side of Ragged Stone Hill, the last but one of the Malverns. There are magnificent views across the Severn Vale to the Cotswold Escarpment and Bredon Hill. Inside, there is a very comfortable sitting room with a log-burner and television. Leading off the sitting room are two bedrooms, each with their own private shower room. The larger bedroom, with wonderful leaded windows, has two twin beds (which can be set up as a king) and the smaller bedroom has a double bed. There is a kitchen with a small fold out table or there is a bigger table in the sitting room. The kitchen has a washer/dryer and dishwasher. There is off-road parking for several cars. Outside, there is a large garden to the rear with a seating area with wonderful views to the East – ideal for a barbecue (disposable barbecues are available at the property for a small charge). Perhaps the cottage’s best feature is its direct access to the Malvern Hills, parts of which are on the Bromesberrow Estate. The path onto the Malvern Hills, with their glorious views across the Welsh Marches, hidden lakes and wooded dells, starts directly behind the cottage – no need to drive anywhere! From there, you can walk the length of the Malverns, via Herefordshire Beacon (with British Camp on top), Worcestershire Beacon and various pubs. The area around the Malvern Hills has long been associated with art, culture, poetry and music and its remarkable natural beauty has inspired such luminaries as Sir Edward Elgar (who lived at Malvern), Dame Laura Knight (who lived at Colwall) and Rupert Brooke (one of the nearby Dymock Poets). There are many arts festivals in the area. Ledbury is perfectly placed for easy access to many tourist attractions, including Eastnor Castle, a 19th century, mock-medieval castle, with interiors by AWN Pugin, who also designed the interior of the Houses of Parliament. Also nearby is the Wye Valley with wonderful canoeing. With history, fine views and plenty to do, there is no better place to stay. North Lodge is perfect for a romantic getaway.
