The positives beautifully located and as most reviewers say beyond well equipped and decorated The negative it being the owner's pride and joy and rather obsessive about it . Despite suggesting that a mid morning departure would be fine I had a knock on the door at 10am telling me that I needed to check out which did not go down well with me to say the least . I left at 11.30
Don’t stay here! (Because you may just spread the word too far that this isn’t just any place and space… it’s a terribly special place and space). Read the other reviews for stuff we don’t need to repeat..beyond perfect hosts, there if you need them, but not there if you don’t..everything said re Clare’s jams and preserves is 100% true, and these generous hosts provide ..literally everything (dishwasher powder to body wash, balsamic and oils to fairy, torches to herbs and spices, great coffee and magi mix/proper knives, whizzers to brollies! (And hair dryer!) You’ll not need to pack anything beyond your clothes, toothbrush/paste and shampoo ..especially so if you’re planning to create a grand banquet from soup starter to soufflé dessert..all there or readily available at a req! (I always pack insect repellent as the critters love me and seek me out from others!) Clare and Colin are your consummate hosts, Cooley managing servicing their frankly stunning gardens and the Folly with total panach and style, genuine warmth and true bonhomie. I’d like to say keep out, but that just wouldn’t be fair..so if you can get dates to book here, I’d say do..you’re welcome!
We were in quite desperate need of a break, rest and relaxation, when we booked The Folly. This setting was perfect. We were able to bring our dog with us and could use the grounds around the folly for short walks with him. There were also many interesting places nearby so were could be tourists if we wanted. The property is self catering and has a well stocked kitchen to work in. This property consists of three floors, the top reached by a spiral staircase to the mezzanine bedroom, which contains one double bed, so couples, not singles. One also needs to be physically mobile. The owners were very helpful, and there were books to advise on local places of interest and restaurants. I managed to leave my hats on the coat pegs (twit) and they were posted back to me ASAP. We will certainly book here again.
