Reviews

I nearly didn’t book this cottage because of the bad review that had been left. We stayed for a week in February with our dog. On arrival I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the cottage was immaculate. Sometimes with “dog friendly” cottages, they smell of dogs but this was not the case. It had a wood burner which was made up ready to light, milk in the fridge and a cake. We had some fantastic weather and twice had lunch outside at the table with views to the sea in the distance and the mountains. The walks from the house are excellent. You are almost on the Slate Trail. There are virtually no people or cars about because of the houses position. We walked to the lake before breakfast each morning and saw no one. For us this is paradise. The sunsets from the cottage were sensational, The owners home is up the lane but does not intrude into your privacy and you feel totally isolated, only seeing them once the whole week. There are 2 toilets a bathroom,a bedroom and an open plan kitchen with a couch that turns into another bed. After a hard days walking we would light the wood burner, go up to the brilliant little loft room with a bottle of wine and talk rubbish in the warm glow. This was our heaven. We were so pleased we didn’t believe the previous review. I have just read it again and I think they just wanted their money back and seem fixated with pubic hair. This was our home for one of the best holidays we have ever had.

Booked this property for an engagement holiday for myself and partner. We haven't been on holiday in well over a year due to work commitments. We searched for an isolated, dog friendly property. This came up. On arrival,it was obvious that the area was rural, but the property wasn't isolated. There was a property next door (but detached). It is in fact the owners who live next door. The property itself is stunning, smart finish and lovely views. However, the property was clearly not cleaned prior to our arrival. We found pubic hairs scattered around the toilet, bath and basin. There was also faeces in the toilet pan, but no cleaning products in the property. On closer inspection, the mattress protector was covered in pubic hair. Our feet were left black after walking bare foot. The property had clearly not been cleaned for sometime as there was deep seeded dirt everywhere. The property folder mentions leaving the property as you find it. This can only let me assume that the owners are relying on guests to clean after themselves. We left on the second morning. I wanted to leave on the first day after our outing to llanberris, but ice and bad weather meant we had to stay the second night. I have complained to sykes and since received a full refund. I'm sure the property cleaner would have been informed, and this problem rectified for future guests. I dont like calling people out, but unfortunately this completely ruined our holiday, and i wouldn't anyone else to suffer the same fate.

We stayed in this cottage for 3 nights at the end of October for the snowdonia marathon. Two adults one teenager and our two dogs, this cottage was just perfect for our needs. There was a barra brith cake, jug of milk in the fridge with tea & coffee waiting for us on our arrival which was a lovely touch. We are looking to visit the area again sometime next year, & this cottage is top of our list for a place to stay. The cottage is very clean with plenty of room and only a few miles less than 10 minutes from Llanberis. Thank you to the owners for a lovely stay in your cottage.

Y Bwthyn is situated in a great location for exploring Snowdonia and all of the activities available. The children particularly liked the horses in the surrounding land. The views are stunning and we would book again.

Y Bwythyn is a beautiful cottage that was situated in the middle of nowhere, on the side of a mountain with wonderful views, yet still perfectly located for easy access to so many lovely places. The enclosed garden/yard was ideal and secure enough to let the dogs out without supervision. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and although we didn't require the use of the log burner, it was a very attractive feature.

Wonderful cottage in a superb quiet location which was within striking distance of many interesting places. The property was very clean and nicely prepared for people to stay there, there were very comfortable beds and the owners are friendly and welcoming!

Y Bwythn is in a lovely, peaceful setting. Beautiful views. I only stayed for three nights but would have loved to have booked it longer.

Great cottage to get away from it all with a beautiful lounge to relax in. Amazing views. The owners very helpful but not intrusive. Very well equipped, we would highly recommend.

Fabulous location which, despite the weather, delivered everything it promised. Cottage was great, very clean with an excellent utility area for muddy boots, jackets and dogs! Loved the log fire!!!

My wife and I stayed in this cottage for a week in June 2015 with our 2 dogs. This idyllic, stone-built, detached cottage is situated in an elevated position on the slopes of Elidir Fach Mountain with views across the countryside to Anglesey and Snowdonia. Fully converted from an 1850s shippon, this delightful Llanberis cottage offers spacious ground floor accommodation with a king-size bedroom with distant sea views, a large open plan living area with a sofa bed, a galleried ceiling with original oak beams, a crog loft where you can sit and read, and a warming multi-fuel stove to sit and relax in front of on cooler evenings. The above is copied from the sykes cottages site but describes perfectly. The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything we needed it even had wifi that was not mentioned. The location is a bit remote for shops pubs etc but this did not bother us. It is great for dogs with a large fenced off garden. There is great walking direct from the cottage and excellent views. The only slight negative on our visit was the grass on the garden area and around the outside seat was fairly long. We would recommend a visit to this cottage and would visit again.

Y Bwythyn really felt like a traditional welsh cottage; the décor and location in particular were great. The open fire was a great addition to the evenings after some wet and cold outdoor activities. We were given a friendly welcome but also left to our own devices so were never intruded upon and overall we found the property really good value for money.

A lovely cottage in a stunning location with very helpful and friendly owners.

The location of the property suited our needs perfectly. The entrance to the property was brilliant in that there was plenty of room for wet gear and the dog. All in all a great holiday. Thank you so much!

Weather was brilliant, location of Y Bwythn is excellent for zip world, Velocity and of course Mount Snowdon. Y Bwythn is ideal for people who want peace and quiet but also allows easy excess to many of the local attractions. Certainly will be booking again.

We were looking for a quiet and peaceful holiday which we found at Y Bwthyn. The property is in an ideal location for travelling around and sightseeing. We found the owners very pleasant and friendly, we only saw them twice. The accommodation was as described, ample room for two, very clean and well laid out. Loved the Log Burner. All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable stay, and would have no hesitation making a return visit.

Rated by Prof Spracklen reviewed on 12th August 2013

Lovely and remote, but within a 5 minute drive from main village and shops. Very friendly and welcoming hosts; welcome pack a lovely touch with ideas and suggestions. Perfect for a short get away.

Rated by Mr Jones reviewed on 17th February 2013

We had a little difficulty finding it, but that was our fault as we didn't see the sign on the gate. It is a wonderful place slap bang in the middle of the countryside as far away from anything that you could wish for if that is what you want. We found Y Bwthyn to be well appointed and very comfortable and it was within easy reach of many good walks including the lake Ogwen area

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 13th December 2012

The cottage is very well placed for days out without having to travel too far. The views from the cottage are stunning. There are mountains in one direction and the coast in the other - magic! Everyone we met was so friendly. The area was lovely and peaceful with sheep outside.

Rated by Mrs Sutton reviewed on 23rd September 2012

We didn't want to go home - would that be sufficient praise? Having spent the past fifty years holidaying in North Wales we can say with conviction this has been amongst, if not, the best. We shall return.

Spotlessly clean cottage in a beautiful yet convenient location. More spacious and comfortable than expected. Charming, friendly, helpful hosts.

Rated by Mr Buss reviewed on 23rd July 2012

Spent a week here in March before the internal photos were on the site so took a leap of faith as it is in such a great position. And we were not disappointed, fantastic cottage with beautiful views down the valley to the sea and lots of walking in the area. Internally the cottage has all mod cons, we were particularly fond of the 'eerie' as we called it for sitting in and reading.

Rated by Groundplan reviewed on 8th May 2012

Cottage was prepared and finished to a high standard and needs attended too very well by the owners.
