Beautiful house , very well equipped and in a fantastic location with a lovely garden to sit and eat in , would highly recommend
This is a beautiful house in a prime position in lovely Whitby. It is spacious and equipped to the highest standards, there really was nothing lacking in terms of amenities and equipment. We especially enjoyed the lovely garden which was accessed via french doors from the kitchen dinner. There are two comfortable lounges and four well appointed bedrooms. It was so quiet at night and yet a couple of minutes stroll takes you to the heart of the town. Cannot recommend this property highly enough.
My family and I stayed in Calliope House for a short break in Whitby and it was absolutely perfect! The location is fantastic - a short walk from the town centre, the promenade, the quayside and the beach, and Pannett Park (with a great kids playground) is literally at the top of the street. It is clean and bright and furnished to a really high standard with plenty of space for the whole family (and more!) While we were there the weather was amazing and so we were able to make use of the beautiful garden terrace and the summer house. It was our first visit but it certainly won't be our last!
Given the variable Whitby weather, Calliope House proved to be excellent accommodation for my family and friends on our long weekend exploration of the town and coast. When it was cold and wet, the house was roomy enough for us enjoy each other's company as well as giving us the space for social timeout. When the sun was shining, we opened the doors in the downstairs kitchen and enjoyed the terraced garden, took the short walk down to the shops and attractions, and got out to nearby Robin Hood's Bay for some fossil hunting. Our 8 year old son loved the house, making himself at home in one of the top floor ’cabin’ bedrooms, the town (HM Bark Endeavour got his 5 stars!) and our adventures on the coast. We enjoyed the fact that the house was well furnished and decorated, the beds were nice and comfy, the heating system was up to the job when the north wind blew, and the kitchen had everything we needed - a real home from home.
I wanted somewhere spacious for a get together of friends and family and this property did it. We could spread over 4 floors and the garden outside. Tastefully decorated it provided a good base to enjoy Whitby. I was surprised how close it was to the centre of town yet set in a cul de sac with a park a the end it was quiet and easy to chill. No gripes at all.
