Just a short drive away, you ll find historic Corbridge, once known as Corstopitum, a Roman garrison town by Hadrian s Wall with a crossing over the River Tyne. These days, it s home to beautiful independent shops, and the annual Corbridge Festival, celebrating music and street theatre. Head to Hexham to experience the area s Viking history, with its ancient abbey and atmospheric gaol the earliest British prison. Alternatively, your cottage is the perfect place to plan a hike from, with the nearby village of Riding Mill a couple of miles from your doorstep.
