Please note, there are some sloping ceilings upstairs in this historic home, a flight of stone steps down to the lawned garden, and the old kitchen garden is unsuitable for young children. If you enjoy hiking, explore Loweswater (4 miles), Crummock Water (8.5 miles) and Buttermere (10 miles). Long distance cyclists can hop on two wheels at Workington Beach (9 miles) and join the 140 mile Sea to Sea cycle towards the Pennines, and as far as Tynemouth on the north east coast. Or, take a leisurely stroll on the coast path near Siddick (10 miles) where you can spot birdlife and butterflies at the nature reserve. Pretty Whitehaven harbour (12 miles), and the fascinating St Bees Heritage Coast are also in reach (15 miles). Step inside to find traditional country style interiors and handsome period features from exposed oak beams, and leaded style diamond windows, to a magnificent stone dating to 1662 at the front of the property. Cook up a storm in the well equipped kitchen which has everything you need including an electric oven and hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, and dishwasher; gather around the kitchen s breakfast table for informal home cooked meals. There s a convenient utility room beside the kitchen which houses a washing machine, tumble dryer, and a WC. Mark special occasions in the bright and airy dining room with its handsome dresser and pretty garden views. After a busy day exploring Cumbria s market towns and hilltops, the living room is the place to settle into cosy seating by the warming open fire for some film time on the TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Or, choose a book from the shelf and curl up in one of the armchairs for reading time. Venturing upstairs, you ll find three beautiful bedrooms: two spacious twin bedrooms, and a large king size bedroom which has the perfect armchair with a view towards Loweswater Fells. The king size bedroom also has an en suite bathroom with a shower over the bath and WC, and all three bedrooms have ample storage for your luggage and gift shopping. On this floor, you ll also find a contemporary style family bathroom with a shower and WC. Please note: there are some sloping ceiling areas upstairs, in keeping with the quirky character of this historic property. Throw open the French doors from the living room and step outside to find spacious enclosed gardens; walk down a flight of stone steps to the beautiful lawned garden with trees, shrubs and flowers, or potter around the kitchen garden which enjoys views of Melbreak (please note: the kitchen garden is unsuitable for young children). Private parking is available for three cars at the front of the property, and there s a pub (1 mile) and a shop (4 miles) within reach. The friendly owners have a farm next door where you re welcome to meet the dairy cows, Suffolk and Greyface sheep; the owners are also happy to take you to and from the nearby pubs so you can enjoy a relaxed night out..
