Beyond the town lies beautiful Derwentwater, around which a memorable 8 mile lakeside stroll can be enjoyed. Alternatively, hop on and off the regular launch service and alight at the various landing stages around the lake including Lodore, Brandlehow and Ashness Gate. Other nearby attractions include Honister Slate Mine, 9.5 miles away, and Castlerigg Stone Circle, just 2 miles away.
