Enjoy a bracing walk along sand and pebble shores of the Duddon Estuary taking in the wide, open vistas at Haverigg Beach and Millom Beach, both within 9 miles. For those interested in local history, take trip to the ruins of Furness Abbey and the Dock Museum at nearby Barrow in Furness, 15 miles away. Take a cruise on Coniston Water, 12 miles away or hire rowing boats, sailing dinghies, canoes or kayaks from Coniston Pier. There are many walks to be had, from easy strolls around the lake to tackling the Old Man of Coniston not for the faint hearted!
