Also within easy reach are the Georgian town of Cockermouth (13 miles) and the lakes of Ullswater (14 miles) and Buttermere (9.5 miles). Entering the cottage via the back door, you will find a handy porch area / utility room which makes an ideal space for leaving coats and muddy boots.
