The harbour is also well worth a visit, where you can take a boat trip or try your hand at fishing. The area is rich in history, being home to the Victorian Nothe Fort (1 mile) and ancient ruins of the cliffside Sandsfoot Castle (1.5 miles). Take a trip to Portland, with its traditional lighthouse and stunning 16th century castle (both within 7 miles), or explore the rugged pebble swathes of Chesil beach (3 miles).
